737NG not descending at TOD

Featured Replies

All,This is probably a brain #### taking place, but I can't see whats wrong. After having flown on LNAV and VNAV for most of my flight, the display shows a TOD point and the RTE on the FMC shows the speeds and altitudes on the approach waypoints, however wen it reaches the TOD it just keeps on flying by and starts recalculating the subsequent speed/alt for the waypoints. So why isn't it descending??Steve Brown

Have you reset your altitude in the MCU? If not, your aircraft will not begin it's decent.------------------------------------------------------------------Joe F."It's not the fall that kills ya. It's the sudden stop at the end"http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Does it take note of the MCP altitude? I haven't touched it since takeoff. I thought it worked of the FMC waypoint ALTSThanksSteve Brown

If you don't set a new altitude in the MCP the plane doesn't decend...I think you'll get a warning about 5nm from T/D on the FMC.This is also how it works in real life....Johnny"I'LL BE BACK"[div align=center]http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/josve/pmdg.jpg ][/div

No it works WITH it. You must reset the MCP and the FMC will give you a message in the scrathcpad 5 miles prior to T/D IF you do not reset it. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
