Engine start up problems in introductory flight

Recommended Posts

Guest Deeforlife

I've just installed the 737NG 600/700 and it looks great. I decided to use the introductory flight to get a feel for the aircraft butI cannot get the starboard engine to start using the instructions in the manual. I can however get the port engine started no problem by following the same instructions. I've version 1.3B. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?. I've tried umpteen times without success.

This sounds like a bleed air issue. I can't recall (off the top of my head) the exact procedure, but check your bleed air switches. I think it's not a right or left engine thing, but that there's enough bleed air to start the first engine, but not enough for the second. Also, make sure that both the fuel cutoff switches on the throttle are open. Tim Metzinger's (hope I got the name right) tutorial is also very helpful, and available from PMDG's website. And please sign your name to your posts.keith

OK, here's what you do.To the right on the APU Bleed switch, there'll be a switch that is down. What you need to do is move it UP. You'll find the message above turns blue.Procedurally, this is probably wrong, and I had the exact same problem; but it works. Then you can start the right engine.Someone explained the issue to me in a post, but I couldn't understand the answer...Tim

I can almost assure you that you have not printed out the Normal Checklist from the manuals installed with the aircraft. You can find them under Programs/PMDG. I would recomend you print up the Normal Checklists and give the tutorial from Tim Metzinger a try to help get a bit more familiar with the NG. The problem you describe is most likely caused by a failure to open the Bleed Air Isolation Valve on the ovehead panel. It must be set to either Auto or Open to get Air to the Pnuematic Starters to start your Right Engine.
