Panel lights at dusk

Featured Replies

I like to fly at dusk with the virtual cockpit, but the vc panel gets so dark that it is not even possible. I like the night-time back lighting, but it doesn't kick in until 25 minutes AFTER FS9 says it's 'dusk'. The panel lights (Shift-L) up to that point are useless, just lightening the color of some sections of the panel. In contrast, the 2D panel switches to back lighting 10 minutes BEFORE official FS 'dusk' (as shown in the Time&Season menu). Is there any way to set the PMDG config. to switch to backlighting sooner? Surely others must be experiencing this dark period too. I know I can use the 2D panel during this hour of darkness (or it's much longer than that under thick clouds), but that's not so appealing. Thanks for any suggestions. Great aircraft and great forum!Ed Gates

I'm afraid that its still some way because of the Flight Simulator.

Well, I guess the problem is the way the NG panel responds to outside darkness before the night panel kicks in. I don't have the problem of unreadability at dusk with any other panels. Is no one else bothered by this, or how do you compensate?Ed Gates

Ed,This is a known problem with all VC panels in FS. Not only the NG. With the -800/900 add-on you'll get domelights in VC to help you out. This was not implemented in the 600/700 though.hope it helps,
