July 12, 200421 yr Dear all,I have read aund used Tim's tutorial on the FMC.Now, I would like to know if there is a quick and easy way to make an ILS approach just by entering the NAV ILS frequence and pressing the APR button. You can do this using basic planes and panels in FS...Thanks,
July 12, 200421 yr Hi Cassis,This sim is all about realism and immersion.FS airrcraft are for games. PMDG is for real :)PS. Forum rules ask that you sign you name to your posts.Rgds,
July 12, 200421 yr I know PMDG is for real but you could still answer my question...Let's try another way.... when you dont have any flightplan in your FMC, is it possible to start a ILS approach just approaching the airport ? Even if that would not happen in real aviation, the aircraft capabilities could still offer this possibility...Thanks,Greg.
July 12, 200421 yr Hi Greg,Yes the aeroplane is quite capable of being operated without an FMC at all. Just selct the correct Freq and CRS and away you go :)You might like to grab the Geezer Guide and run that flight without FMC.. works perfectly.Rgds,
July 12, 200421 yr You sure are pushing that Geezer guide Brad ;) Seriously though, it is a very good source for realworld procedures - so is the original Pacific Blue one Brad made.Ah, life is much better now that you can fly AND be on the forums thanks to the HiFi FS Browser :)Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.vozvirtual.org/images/pmdgforumsignature.png"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. July 12, 200421 yr And I might add that unlike others you mention, this NG's APP light will go out with capture so make sure you are watching your Pilot's flight display. Also, arming the 2nd A/P prior to G/S will still indicate SINGLE CH on the FMA until passing through 1500 RA with the confidence check. If you do not arm the 2nd A/P prior to 800 RA ( I think it's 800) you will stay in SINGLE CH and must land manually...Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. July 12, 200421 yr Hi Randy,You are, as always, spot on. You must have 2nd AP in by 800'RA. Please feel free to critique teh GG mate. Your input would be most welcome. I have asked Kevin Slater if the Geezer Guide Thread could be made sticky so that it is easy for ppl to find. All the Best mate,
