Autoland, anybody ....?

Featured Replies

I am ploughing through the docs for the 600/700, but just wondered how this bird performs an autoland. If I set the ILS to Nav 1 and couple the APP function through the AP, will I get an autoland? Or must I engage both autopilots and do anything else? Appreciate advice, thanks!Jonathan

Hi,You must set both NAV1 and NAV2 to the CAT III ILS Frequency. I believe you need to make sure you set you Course to the RWY Heading. After the Localizer has become active on your PFD(solid dot) press VOR/LOC. When you've intercepted the Glideslope press the APP button. You should see 'Single Channel' in yellow on the PFD and you shold start to lower your airspeed. Lower you flaps as your speed drops. Now engage the second second Autopilot. Now you should be ready to autoland. Once down you should disengage the autopilots by clicking on the bar beneath the autopilot levers. I believe the Airport's ILS you are trying to autoland at must support CAT III!Hope I got that right and hope that helps,Jim

You're Welcome John. I made several typo's there, hehe. But I think it's readable. It would seem you managed to read it ok at least. ;)If you feel like it come back and let me know how it worked out!Cheers,Jim

Make note you can only engage 2nd autopilot when flaps are down. I made a stupid mistake today of accidently pressing F5 when I mean't to press F7 (didn't realize until I weant to extract flaps for taxi) to lower flaps to 40. I wondered why CMD B wouldn't engage and I hit the runway hard :-PNick B.Continental Airlines 737NG Pilothttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg--AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.2 Ghz (Equal to 2.8 ghz)400W Power supply3x 80 mm Case FansSoyo VIA KT600 Dragon PlusnVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb2 x 512 PC400100 GB Western DigitalMicrosoft Sidewinder Precision 2

P.S.Autolanding on ILS is also approved with CAT II powered runway.
