August 23, 200421 yr I was lucky enough to spend an hour in a new 737 800 NG cockpit and had a good chat with the captain (on the ground as you are not allowed in the air anymore thanks to you know who).I really appreciated how gr8 the PMDG 737 NG was when I went through the real systems and I can assure all those people who demand reality that all of the critical systems are modelled other than a few niceties like WX radar and the spoiler panel at the back of the overhead panel. The one interesting system that was missing and would have to be an easy add on is the new HUD display. Apparently it is being added to help reduce the number of tail straikes caused by over rotation on the longer 800/900 series. Any chance of this being modelled? The only thing I would say is a problem at the moment for me is the rather twitchy nice wheel steering. I have used the PSS A330 and I found that its nose wheel steering was far more "heavy" and less twitchy. I think this is the only area that PSS have beaten PMDG at. Any change you guys can add a nose wheel tiller to a slider function?Keep up the great work Stephen
August 23, 200421 yr Hello Stephen, It is true that tail strikes have been a real concern on the NG. American Airlines standard operating procedures call for the mandatory use of the HUD to avoid rotation problems. But not every operator has the HUD as standard equipment. PMDG have stated that they desire to produce the BBJ, hopefully it will contain a HUD and I believe they can develope it. Of course nothing is going to be produced before the 744 project is completed. The ground steering has been talked about many times. I too believed it was a bit touchy but there is good reason why it is the way it is now. Of course, the use of rudder pedels and settings in the FS menu for sensitivity produce more stable ground handling. Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
