Autoland in the b744 ???

Featured Replies

Comming from the PS1 "World", but also being a devoted PMDG 737 NG user, I am naturaly placing big expectations on the upcoming b744 release from PMDG.I am sure that the Flight Director implementation in the 744 will be as good as the best we have had in the all history of MSFS - the one that was first introduced with the 737 NG series, in wich I am able to place the airplane on the rw centerline even under strong crosswinds, just "flying the FD" like in TRW!Now, we all know that MSFS has a lousy ground physics implementation, where no matter how good you design an aircraft, it will slip sideways in the rw under crosswind effects during landing & takeoff. But we also know that there is the mighty FSUIPS which can be used to turn OFF AGL 0' winds to cope with that core limitation of MSFS so....... so, it just came to my mind that PMDG could make use of this FSUIPC feature and implement a full autoland logic in the 744, with automatic rollout and rw centerline alignement, by turning off ground winds. After all this is exactly what PS1 and ELITE do to save their users from strange behaviour from an incomplete/inconsistent ground physics model..

Vangelis is hard at work designing the rollout system and rw centerline alignment.Rest assured, this will be included.
