Framerate jumps

Featured Replies

Hello allI have a question. When I am flying I am typically getting about 15 FPS. I have a 2.8 GHZ, 512 MB Ram, Sony Vaio GRT-170 and an NVIDIA, GEFORCE FX Go5600 64 meg graphics card. Is this a normal framerate for these specs? Also Most of the time the framerate is about 15 but about every 10-15 min it drops down to about 5 for 5 min. During cruise thats okay but on approach/takeoff it gets to be a pain. Any advice is nice. ThanxsAndras

Andras-two answers:a) Your system will REALLY benefit if you double the RAM to 1 Gigabyte. We've seen generally much better behaviour that way.:( Seems like every 10-15 minutes, some external process is running in the background of your PC. Check that you're not running anything extraneous that might slow you down (like a virus checker, etc.)

Ya I have been wanting to upgrade to 1gb for a long time now. Its just harder with a laptop since I have to take out my 2 256 chips and replace them with 512's. Does anyone know how much this might be? And for the second point, it might be IE. I used to have a problem that it minimized about ever 10 min, when i checked processes it always showed an IEexplore proccess wich I didnt start. That I think has gone away since I now use Firefox. Ill check next time, but the problem is that there are always about 30 processes going at one time, how am I supposed to know which one it is?ThanxsAndras

Lefteris, I've been thinking about doubling my RAM memory to 1GB for sometime now, but when I search in the products two questions come in my head:1) What do pins have to do with it? I see some 512RAMs that have 148 pins, some have 184 pins, and a few have 200...2) Why is one 512RAM $90 and the other one $200? I mean you can
