September 2, 200421 yr I'm just curious, since I'm really eager to get my hands on PMDG's 744. I can't wait to sit in the VC, and experience the ship PMDG style. PS1 is great, but unless you build yourself a cockpit you do feel a bit removed from actually sitting in a plane. Either way, it's excellent practice and will certainly make you a better pilot when the PMDG plane is finally done. And for those who think Add-ons are expensive, PMDG's bird will be a BARGAIN compared to PS1.
September 2, 200421 yr Well, to answer your question I do and it still is supreme when it comes to flight simulation ;) With two computers I have the best of both worlds, PS1 for aircraft simulation and MSFS for terrain/visual simulation. Put together they are outstanding. /Tord Hoppe, Sweden
September 2, 200421 yr I own it but unfortunately haven't used it for a couple of years due to difficulty getting PS1, my USB CH Yoke and Pedals and Win XP to coexist on the same system. I believe there is a way using the VDMSound module but I've been unsuccessful thus far. Must have a go again soon!Anyway, if the PMDG 744 is only a fraction the quality of PS1 then it will be a huge achievement. Judging by the 600, 700, 800 and 900 though, I'm expecting the fraction to be quite large :-) Chris Kirk
September 3, 200421 yr I do, and until PMDG's 737NG600/700 became available that was the best simulator experience EVER!!!I am naturaly looking forward for a very good 744 from PMDG, and will certainly not resist comparing both regarding the FM and systems modelling. While I still think PS1 will win, I am sure that "the Queen" will be second best ex-equo with the 737NG!!!
September 3, 200421 yr PS1 really is incredible. I've had it run great on XP, with CH USB pedals & yoke. VDMSOUND works well. The only problem is that sometimes I get a crash right before landing. Makes me not want to fly long flights. I've been experimenting with Virtual PC. The fantastic thing about Virtual PC, is that once you get PS1 running well, you will never-ever have to re-install or tweak settings. Even on a brand new computer- Install Virtual PC, and copy the virtual hard disk file over. All the settings will be exactly the same, and PS1 would never even know it was on a virtual PC.Admittedly, so far I haven't gotten it running :)Anyway, I think PS1 and the PMDG plane will complement each other. It would be cool if they get ACARS working.
September 3, 200421 yr Chris, if you need any help with the CH Pro/Win XP thingy, just give me a holler. Or visit the PS1 website where there are many that will help!It /Tord Hoppe, Sweden
September 3, 200421 yr Tord,A lot of my free time is taken up at the moment and I find I'm hard pressed to scan the Avsim forums, never mind resurrect my beloved PS1! In a month or so things should settle down a little and I'll have a go again then. Thank you for your kind offer of help... when the time comes I suspect I shall be only too grateful to avail of it if it is still offered.PMDG: sorry, this is getting WAY off topic as far as you're concerned, but rest assured that I am a future PMDG 744 customer you can count on!Chris Kirk
September 3, 200421 yr I also use PS1.3a and love it. Hope the upcoming -400 is as close to the Aerowinx version..Regards,jackkgsp
