September 9, 200421 yr Hi,I finally bought myself a new graphics card, a Sapphire X800 Pro. Now...what display settings should I use to get the most out of my new card together with the PMDG a/c? If my memory serves me right I read somewhere that you shouldn't let MSFS handle the settings but instead allow the hardware to take care of that...?Any help is much appreciated!
September 14, 200421 yr Author Was hoping for some tips, no one else with a similar setup who could share some experiences?I have tried various settings myself, both with the card and also in MSFS when it comes to AA and filtering modes etc but honestly I'm not sure if I see that much difference whatever I do which I find a bit strange...Cheers,
September 14, 200421 yr I always 'force' Full Screen Anti Alliasing and Anisotropic Filtering on the Driver Control Panel. That usually works best. When you force the settings this way, turning the ingame options on or off will not result in any differences because the settings are forced: they are always on. If you however turn the settings OFF on the Driver Panel but on in FS itself, you might see a difference. Maybe. Maybe not. As far as I know forcing FSAA and AF usually works best.
September 14, 200421 yr For ATI, turn on AA in the ATI control panel, turn off in FS. All other checkboxes on.Set hardware lights to max (8).I keep mip maps to 2/3s of the way right (or I get a "twinkling" effect that I do not like).Set your resolution to 1280x960x32 to keep the proper aspect ratio and keep the PMDG panels crisp. I also use the Omega drivers that seem to work better than the ATI drivers, and you get RadLink that gives you more options, but, you can also fry the card, so use at your own risk. There are other ATI tips in the main FS forum somewhere above.
September 14, 200421 yr Author Thanks alot for your replies guys! One more question, what about the filtering in FS9 - what is the best setting there?
September 14, 200421 yr Author Hi Word Not Allowed,OK, that's the setting I'm using currently so then I'll stick to it. And actually after various tips a got the last days MSFS is now runnig very smoothly with a FPS close to 30 almost all the time :-)
