September 24, 200421 yr Hello,Just getting used to this fantastic bird. However, I'm having some problems on descent especially. Just to let you know, I'm using Active Sky 2004 and entering in winds aloft into the forecast page. The problems occurs on a VNAV path descent. The aircraft will be descending smoothly down the Path and glidescope centered, when suddently the airspeed changes to 10 or 20 knots differecne, the glide scope path suddently jumps to complete top/bottom of the scale, altitude changes, and the course line on the ND stats seeking around. I've noticed this about 2 or 3 times on the decent, and each time the aircraft has to make a strong adjustment to regain the path. I think it could be Active Sky updating itself, but the wind smoothing is on, and this shouldn't happen just on descent then, no?Also, i've noticed it happening just descending below 18k feet. Would it have something do to with altimeter changes?Turbulence? I can't think of what I'm doing wrong...Is active Sky really this problematic? Thanks for your helpAlan D
September 24, 200421 yr Alan,No ActiveSky is not that problematic. Real weather can be that problematic however. ;-)Jokes aside. There are a few things that come to mind here. If this is happening on final to a major airport and you have a lot of AI set up you could be encountering wake turbulence. This will toss around the NG if it descents behind a bigger aircraft. Usually it also disconnects the A/P. Something to watch out for as the FS ATC doesn't do a good job on separating aircrafts on final. Also do you use the latest FSUIPC and AS2004.5? The version numbers are 3.31.7 and Build 142 respectively. There was an issue with wind shifts that are almost completely wiped out with these versions. I don't think this has to do with ActiveSky updating as I haven't heard about any such issue from my test collegues on the AS beta team. You should post this question in the ActiveSky forum a couple of stairs down from this forum.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
