September 26, 200421 yr Hi. I'm new to the forum, though I've heard of PMDG by reputation. Hopefully I'll have both 737 products when I can scrounge the cash. I'm also interning with "a major airline" at the moment and am just about done auditing their MD-80 systems course. It was an encouraging experience for multiple reasons (a "hey, even *I* can do this" feeling and the opportunity to explore a less automated aircraft) but it would also be nice to apply some of the new-found knowledge since I'm not taking the next step and doing the full coursework. If it were the 737 I'd know where to go. Is there anything near comparable in either the MS or X-plane world?Thanks,Michaelps- I get a kick out of that non-disclosure tagline. Nice to use it if temporarily
September 29, 200421 yr Let me rephrase rather. What's the best MD-80 82, 83 aircraft that even approaches PMDG's philosophy and, if not that, what has the best flight guidance simulation? Thanks for your help,Michael
September 29, 200421 yr I don't believe there is any such complex aircraft for those types for flight simulator or X-plane. Of course there will be some who might say that there are great MDs in FS although for what you are asking I hold to my statement. Of course you can go courseware/FMST here http://www.aerosim.com/bizjet/biz_atrnsprt.htm Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/Animation1.gifCaution! September 29, 200421 yr Much obliged for the info. I figured as much, but needed to hear an authoritative word from someone knowledgeable.Ironically, I've used Aerosim's VFD product in my previous coursework:http://www.aerosim.com/airline_training/atr_dt_vfd.htmIt is very good and I miss having the subscription (expensive though it was).I'll probably toy around with something like the "MadDog" commercial product and see how far it takes me product-wise. Here's to hoping PMDG has the opportunity to expand its fleet significantly over the years. I already find the concept to be a fine poor-man's educational tool and wish the development group well.Michael
