October 3, 200421 yr I have purchased the excellent 800-900 and found the tcas very exciting..The whole package now feels complete.I just have one or two questions that im sure you guys will be able to answer.1. what is the strange noise when you arm the spoilers/speed brakes whilst flying its like someone is rustling papers or some kinda clicking noise...?2. what does the CO Route mean in RTE page? What do i enter in here?3. I have read the booklet but i dont understand what the EFIS MODE/NAV FREQ DISAGREE means?4.What does cost index mean i have read in here somewhere that you should input 100 cost index and 5.5 reserve fuel is that right?5.how does it know the planes weight by just pressing the button LSK1,Where does it get this info from so i can check it (just for fun)it is always 79.1/23.3%...?And lastly how do i save any flight into the FMC So i can load them at a leter date so i dont have to re-input all the waypoints.I spend alot of time planning my routes using jepersen paper charts and it gets a little tedious having to do it when i fly my fav routes.I know there are alot of questions but i am a newbie and loving this product so much...I need to know as much as i can to aid me getting 100% out of the product.I hope you guys understand.Best regards Paul Teasdale
October 4, 200421 yr Hi Paul,1) You are probably hearing the trim moving2) CO Route is where you can load a previously saved flight plan. EX: KMSPKORD13) Message appears when you go into NAV mode and have a LOC or ILS tuned. Need to be in APP mode4) Cost index, simply stated, is used by the FMC to calculate engine performance settings for fuel usage. I have heard that a CI of 65 is typical.5) This is not part of the real FMC, PMDG (Anthony) programmed it in to make setup quicker. I believe some aircraft do have the capability with sensors in the landing gear. Usually the flight crew gets the weight information as part of the dispatch paperwork. They enter the information manually into the FMC from the paperwork. FYI: You can change the loading of the NG by using the PMDG load Utility located in the FS PMDG directory. Another easy way to change the weight would be to change the FS fuel load settings. I sometimes fly the with an empty center tank (shorter flights). George Morris
October 4, 200421 yr PaulI use FSbuid for flight planning. Very handy, you can set it up so it saves 2 flight plans at the same time. After you build a plan (when it,s set up properly) you will get a dialog stating that it created a plan with a .pln and a .rte extensions. If you fly online you may want to designate a gate at your dep. airport in creat a flight. When you bring up the NG and the FMC and the "index" you will see "Nav Data", click on the LSK and you will see "FLT PLNS" after you click on its LSK you will see a list of all the plans (I forget what the limit is, 8?) just select the LSK next to the plan you want and Presto your CDU comes alive. If you designated a gate and it,s not in the plan, after you load it (your sitting at the gate) just resave it from the FLT PLNS page. If it was KBOSKORD it will become KBOSKORD1. Next time you want that flight and load it from the FMC it will have it at the gate.Online controllers get nervous if your sitting on the active programing the FMC etc.I know I got yelled at the first time, thought I was the only guy at the field? If you want to get rid of a plan just go to FS9/PMDG/Flight Plans and delete it.If you use charts and program the FMC just go to Nav Data-FLT PLNS and find the "Save" LSK.Best
