October 17, 200421 yr Hello all,Just 2 quick questions:Why is there something like a landing gear "off" position on the landing gear lever? I know PMDG doesn't simulate it, but IRL there is usually something like gear up, gear down & gear down and locked. I suppose gear off is similar to gear gown (& unlocked), but why is it there & why is it used IRL?I noticed on the FMC that on the second page of the PROGRESS-tab there is the SAT. I know TAT means total air temperature, which is allways much higher than the SAT. The SAT is the kind of temperature u usually get as OAT when flying as a passenger. So what does SAT mean, and why is the TAT so much higher? Is it because the TAT includes the EGT as well? Thanks in advanceJeroen
October 17, 200421 yr Jeroen,A1. The OFF position is used for de-pressurizing the hydraulic systems used to raise the gear after take-off. You don't want to have high pressure in the system and the gears are locked in the raised position anyway. For the down and locked. As far as I understand lowering of the gears is done pretty much by gravitaional force, but I'm sure withsome help of hydraulics. And once they are down you have them locked so they won't fold on you on touch down... ;-)A2. See this thread for a good explanantion about different temperatures used; http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...60969&mode=fullHope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
