November 8, 200421 yr I love the PMDG 737. One reason I love it is because as a somewhat advanced simmer, I didn't have to read every bit of fine print in the manual to get the 737's in the air. Unlike one other developer's aircraft model which required way too much study time to get airborne, I was able to get the 737's in the air with relatively minimal time in the books and with a short checklist.Why...Because the panel and FMC, while advanced and state-of-the-art for the FS9 sim world, isn't so complicated, with so many working systems that had to be in place that you couldn't get going. This is a flight sim, not MYST.I would happily suggest that PMDG, and others continue to make panels and FMC's that are intuitive and if possible, "children" of the existing FMC in the 737. If I had to start every flight from "cold and dark", all of my flying time would be spent on the ground as many of us enjoy the hobby but don't always have time to click buttons and flip switches just to get to the "hold short" position. The ability to have an advanced panel and FMC, while keeping those of us with limited time in mind, is appreciated in your future endeavors.Thank you so much.Ed Lin
November 8, 200421 yr Hmmm... I actually kind of like all the button clicking and switch flipping, because that's the way its done in the real life.If it was up to me I was able to do so in the flight sim, I would even do all the preflight from the little Cessna to the 737 because that's the way I do it in the real life myself. Not to mention the flight planing, I usually spend 15-30 minutes pre-flighting, fueling, writing all the #s down, cleaning the windshield, etc., and then I fly for 1,2 , or 3 hours. Now that's only for a C-172.Regards,Vala
November 9, 200421 yr Unlike the 737 series, the 747 will have saved senarios for users, simply load a saved flight and away you go. Not sure yet what will be availble but I suspect something like approaching a certain airfield, cruising, ready for takeoff etc. Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. November 9, 200421 yr Hi Vala!Frequently, with two boys, a wife, a job, a sometimes acting career, and the chores (most of which get neglected thanks to this hobby, but that's another thread), I might only have 45-90 minutes to get from gate to gate. That includes time to get the flight plan created/loaded, Active Sky started, Radar Contact started, etc. If I spent a half hour with pre-flight, fueling, etc., my flights would generally be across the runway and back.:-lol Ed Lin, D.O.S.
November 9, 200421 yr Sounds good Randy! That gives everyone a choice and starting point depending on how much time one has to fly!Ed Lin, D.O.S.
November 9, 200421 yr Exactly! I love the idea of saved scenarios... That way both of us can do it the way we can afford to!Also, sorry if I sounded kind of rude on my last post... I realized that when I had posted it...Regards,Vala
November 9, 200421 yr Rude? I didn't think your post was rude at all!!! Never crossed my mind!Ed Lin, D.O.S.
