November 12, 200421 yr Last night I loaded punched my route into the FMC & although I didn't set the approach STAR when I departed, instead I waited until CRZ (more time up there). When it was all set everything looked ok except the ToD was showing only a few miles from where the STAR was to begin. This would have been totally unreal if I had allowed VNAV to get me there. I used Level Change & everything was ok. Is there a way to recalculate after edits like that?Dave
November 12, 200421 yr Dave,First. It's my belief that the FMC recalculates your entries automatically. You do need to have an E/D, end of descent, to have a accurate descent profile though, as the FMC calculates the path backwards from the runway and up.Second. Why would a T/D a few miles from the beginning of a STAR be unrealistic? The above seems all normal if it's a long-winded STAR but unless you tell the length of the STAR and any altitude restrictions applied it's all guesswork.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
November 12, 200421 yr Descent at a realistic rate from ToD to E/D from FL330 would have needed much more distance than the FMC indicated. I've done the same proceedure a few times and as you say the FMC usually calculated everything ok, but not this time. I'm sure I entered something I should not have or did not enter something I should have. Anyway LVLCH and my calculator worked ok, the passengers didn't know the difference. Thanks for your answer.Dave
