November 19, 200421 yr I noticed the thread on top mentioning that new users should get the sid/star file right away after installing the aircraft but the sid star file is already there when you install, ichecked them and there the same ones, as far as the airac exe file is it that important to update and what exactly is it used for? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to solve an Fmc error listed in another thread here about 'nav Ils error' that I feel may be due to one of these updates.
November 19, 200421 yr Hi Joe,Well, to make a long story short yes it is important to be up to date on both the Airac cycles and the terminal procedures cycles. Keep in mind that both are derived from more or less the same database (DAFIF) and therefore are in "synch" if I may use this term. Should you use an old Airac and an up to date procedure package then you surely will have a few error messages. So my advice for what it is worth: update your Airac as soon as it is released by NavData, then update your terminal procedure package as soon as Terry releases it and download the latest all-in-one procedures from NavData. Here is the problem: some of the user defined procedures uploaded on Navadata are not regularly updated by the authors therefore there may be instances where there will be error messages in the FMC. If there are such messages post them on the NavData forum and I am sure someone will suggest a solution. Michael
