February 7, 200521 yr Hi folks! Maybe someone jhere could help me. This is the question:When you want to divert to your alternate airport, how do you make it? In the Airbus MCDUs, you have the ALTN F-PLAN feature but in the NGs FMCs there is not (not even an RTE2 option, like in the 767/757 Pegasus FMC). So how do you make it? Delete the active route and make a new route, perf, etc., to the alternate airport? Please help! Thanks!
February 7, 200521 yr This I would like some help with too. Also how to active the route to e.g. a holding point after a go around.

You just have to do these steps below at the time you divert to a new destination.Go to the RTE page and insert the new Destination in line 1R, Execute. You may get a message, NO ACTIVE ROUTE, which is fine. Now go to the LEGs and DEP/APP page's and build a new route to the Destination. Clean up the LEG's page by bringing up the Active waypoint, Execute, engage LNAV and get rid of any route discontinuities and unwanted waypoints. Add or delete any airspeed and altitude restraints. Go the CRZ page and insert the new CRZ altitude if you haven't started a descent yet and Execute (Note: If you are holding after the MAP, there may or may not be a CRUISE page available). Go to the MCP altitude window and dial in the new CRZ altitude. Engage VNAV(it may not work if the Cruise page is missing) or LVL CHG.Go to the Pressurization panel and insert the new CRZ altitude and Destination landing altitude.Go to PROGRESS page and check the landing fuel and ETA at the new Destination.Make a PA announcement.Call your Chief Pilot when you get home and tell him to to hurry up with that CAT IIIA approval for the Airline.Floyd John Floyd
February 7, 200521 yr When executing a MAP, there should already be an MAP procedure in the FMC and it should already be active. Or, if there is a Route Discontinuity , then you would need to correct it.Does that answer your question?Floyd John Floyd
