ILS path missing during ILS approach

Recommended Posts

Guest Andrea

Dear all, with my PMDG 737, more than one time, I missed ILS path during an ILS approach to Milan Linate LIML 36R runway.During ILS approach, after having intercepted ILS Localizer and Glideslope with dual A/P engaged (CMD ON), when I reduce speed from 160 Knots to final landing speed (about 132 Knots) and pull out final flap configuration (30 degrees) the 737 misses the glideslope path.Andreahttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpg

Andrea, gave us a little more information about your flap and speed settings. With flaps 30 you have a lot of upforce. Take a moment time and look at your wings and flaps. So normally you passing the OM with 170 Knots an gear down and flaps 15 or flaps 10 with gear up. After the OM I reduce to Vref and setting the flaps step by step from 25 to 30. If you set the final flap configuration to early at a higher speed, the nose comes up and your bobby is climbing. Stefan

More info:1) I intercept and catch ILS localizer whilst I am arriving to target descent altitude of 3000 feet below the ILS glideslope path. Speed around 190-200 knots, flaps 5.2) Then I set dual A/P for autoland. Then I set gear down and reduce speed to 160 knots and set flaps to 15.3) Then I intercept and catch the ILS glideslope path and the aircraft starts to descend towards runway heading. 4) At about 2000 feet altitude I reduce speed to final landing speed (130-132 Knots) and set flaps to 30. The problem occurs after having set flaps to 30. Probably I do this operation too fast and the aircraft lifts up the nose missing the ILS glideslope path.Andreahttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpg

Hmmm Sounds like you have reduced your speed too early. Try flying Vref+5 until over the threshold and then cut throttles.

Autoland is flowen with AT on. So there is no need to set Vref + 5. AT will do the correction for you. GreetingsStefan
