PMDG: Electric Ambiente Cockpit sounds

Featured Replies

Hi,I have noticed that the PMDG -> Styles -> Sound menu -> "Battery/ Electric Ambiente Cockpit Sound" is very loud and rattling to me, so I had to switch it off.My question to those of you who visited a B737 cockpit for a longer time (e.g. on a jump seat etc.) or even flew it yourselves:Are the Electric Ambiente/ Battery (also Avionic?)sounds *in real life* really as loud/rattling* as they are simulated on the PMDG737? It must be terrible and annoying for pilots even under headphones...:)GreetingsSusan

Haven't been in the cockpit unfortunatley, but according to the experts, it's very noisy. The trim wheels are obnoxious, and many other things are annoying as well. I imagine they get used to it.Go to http://a330.net/ and select the multimedia section. Then VIDEO LIBRARY --> Other COCKPIT --> BOEING. There's a couple 737 vids and it'll give some idea of the noise level. They aren't NGs, but rather one of the classic generation, but still worth watching. I believe the NG is better for engine noise (very little) than the classics and maybe some other sounds, but it's still very noisy in other ways.Chris

Hi Chris, thanks for your answer and specially the link! :)I know, it is very loud inside the cabin (I myself only flew some legs on the jump-seat before 9/11 when a good friend, who was German Condor-Pilot on the DC-10 Fleet). But I recognized that the noise came from the Air-Cond., the outside winds and from time to time out off the (automated) aileron/elevator trim but NOT(!) of the battery or avionics...!So is that different on the 737-600 through -900?Greetings Susan
