February 15, 200719 yr Hey all.On videos i notice that after takeoff the first officer or captain calls for climb power and changes are made to the throttle. How do you work out what to set the throttles to to achieve climb power?PS, this is for the 737-700.Thanks,David
February 16, 200719 yr I haven't flown the 737 in a while but there should be either an FMC thrust limit page or on the main panel, there will be a set of buttons that say CLB followed by 1 and 2. February 16, 200719 yr Hi David,If you arm autothrottle before TO and engage TO/GA mode after that, climb power is automaticaly set when reaching flap /acceleration height. This altitude is set on the TAKEOFF REF page 2 on the FMC/CDU. Default is 1500 ft above field elevation (AFE).At 1500 ft AFE the N1 button will light up on the MCP and this is also the right time to press the LVL CHG button (and CMD for autopilot if you desire) to start your climb. Set the MCP speed to the speed that equals the UP marker on the speed tape (around 210 kts), accelarate and retract flaps on schedule. Then you can engage VNAV or continue your climb at 250 kts below 10.000 ft in LVL CHG mode.Give it a go and good luck!David Bernard
