Recommended Posts

Guest WeeJordan

Can anyone explain simply how to do an autoland in the 747, well how to input the course and ILS freq - when i went to tune it in the FMC at the ILS bit, it says park and i couldnt input 110.10 or delete the park bit, and at the CRS bit i couldnt tune course 054, can anyone help me?

Hi WeeJordanthe correct format to manually tune the ILS radio for your example is:110.10/054 then shift it by pressing the relevant fmc button. However it should auto tune to the correct frequency and course provided that you entered the correct arrival airport and runway etc in the dep/arr page on the fmc when initially setting up the fmc for flight. It auto tunes when you are close enough to it.hope this helps, full explainations are in the manuals and fmc operation manual.John Calleja BAW352

Thanks, i got my first autoland - well non-autoland everything was working fine until around 200feet it turned right a degree or 2, then landed VERY HARD and bounced, so i had to cut off the A/p and Autothrottle and manually do it
