August 5, 200619 yr Hi. I'm having trouble flying the PMDG 737-700 into Madeira. I've had the same thing happen twice. On the VOR visual approach for runway 05, when I disengage the AP to make the visual turn onto final, I can't disengage A/T speed mode. The light goes out on the SPEED switch when I click it but the autothrottles keep trying to command climb power. I've tried switching off the flight director but that makes the SPEED button light up again. It seems the only way is to manually disarm the autothrottle. Madeira seems to be the only airport at which this happens. Anywhere else, I can disengage the AP and then disengage SPEED and land manually with no problem.Advice appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.Rob
August 5, 200619 yr Hmmm, that sounds odd. Especially that it only happens at LPMA.Have you checked speeds in the FMC? I can't see really why that would make a difference if all speed modes are disengaged, but you should probably go through in the LEGS page and delete all the commanded speeds for the remaining waypoints and see if that helps. Checked you've not accidentally hit the TO/GA switch? If you disarm the A/T, then arm it again, does it just command climb power again?
August 5, 200619 yr Thanks Tom for the advice. I've just tried a test flight from LPPS to LPMA and I made sure I had Vref selected on the FMC so it suggested sensible speeds for final and landing. As usual I flew the final approach manually and it worked fine. The only thing I noticed was that the HDG SEL button remained lit when I clicked CMD A to disengage the AP. I clicked HDG SEL and the lamp went out. I disengaged SPEED mode with no problem and landed manually with no problems controlling the throttles. Not sure what went wrong the previous two times, but it seems OK now, apart from the mysterious HDG SEL remaining lit. Thanks againRob
August 5, 200619 yr No problems, glad you got it sorted.Mine sometimes stays lit too, I normally just disengage the F/D and it extinguishes.
August 5, 200619 yr Rob,Regarding the A/P mode lights still being ON despite A/P being OFF. Remember that you can select modes for the F/D even if the A/P is disengaged. With both A/P disengaged and F/D OFF the light should go out.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
