SID/STAR/RWY , Optional Planer

Recommended Posts

Hi, 1. is there anyway when using the build in flightplaner in FS2004 to find out the SID/STARs and Runways for the flight? 2. When using an optional planer, is there a way to import it to FS so that the ATC in the game follows it?

Hello,To answer to your question, no.And to your second question, no if you mean the FS built in flight planner tool.Allthough what you can do is to fly as ATC says you need to. And when you're 12-10nm from runway, crossing point, RX-*** you ca nthen fly as you programmed your STAR in ATC. You can use the STAR to approach.Second thing, you might concider purchasing Radar Contact. That is very good tool and I only fly with it.When approch you can say to the controlers that you want an IAP approach and fly with your STAR.There are speed rerstrictions etc ... Check out their homepage and purchase it. :)

I use FSBuild which exports to the PMDG FMC and to FS9. In FSB you have the option of using its database of SIDS and STARS when planning a route. For many areas many points of SIDS and STARS are common regardless of runway used. I mention this because at the time of planning the flight you can not insure which runways are to be used but you do know your desired arrival and departure direction. FSB has an option to temporarily build from what is the route grid. You use this to rebuild (and export) the plan after eliminatinn the runway specific waypoints placed in there from using A SID or STAR.After importing the plan into the FMC once approach announces your runway you can add the waypoints in the DEP/ARR FMC page getting rid of any duplication of waypoints by editing in the LEGS page and closing any DISCOs. If you are using Radar Contact at approach time you can elect to fly an IAP in which case you navigate on your own (using the FMC) with RC only giving you the merging altitude for final. You should have the published arrival procedure on hand for this. RC can also provide vectors to final and optionally allow you flexibility in following the controllers instructions particularly altitude. With regard to Radar Contact for departure if your first waypoint is greater than thirty miles from the airport it will by default (which you can overide) provide vectors to line you up with that first waypoint. If closer you will be instructed to navigate on your own or you can in all cases elect this to do an LNAV departure. If you click on my tag below it will take you to the RC home page. Be sure to look at the features table. Also browse the RC support forum here on AVSIM for pros and cons.
