Sound Patch

Featured Replies

After finally reading the soundset post I have a quick question. In the list of updated features of the soundset posted by Ryan (Thank You) there was no list of the 747s APU sounds. When I'm around the 744 at work there APU is actually quite whiny with a high pitch whine that you wouldn't expect to hear from such a large beast. Has any modification been made to this soundest? Thanks One more question maybe someone can clarify. Is it or is it not a FS9 limitation that when I go to spot view that I hear the recirc fans and A/C soundsets when I am outside? I remember reading something about this but forgot. And last but not least, when I use my current aircraft as provided is there a sound for the APU when it is running outside when I am in spot view? I dunno if I can hear it or not cause all I really here is the recirc fan going or the A/C. Thanks alot

I believe the APU sound was added, but don't quote me on that please. If it's not there, it's very minor compared to the other issues we fixed I think.Yes, it is an FS limitation that you hear the fans and stuff outside the plane - there's no way for us to know what exact view the sim is in other than 2D vs. not 2D. Those sounds are generated outside of FS by our module code. You can turn them off in the options menu but it will disable all the sounds created by our processor, not just the fans, (ie, you won't hear GPWS callouts etc in any view other than 2D...) This includes the VC, and we assume most people aren't going to want to lose all the cockpit environment and panel sounds while in the VC just to make it so there's no fan noise in spot view...FSX may very well change all of this, we've yet to see for sure.
