744 FMC very slow

Featured Replies

Hi all,I have a problem with the 744 which is very annoying..when I insert a new leg / route into the FMC, the screen goes black for a few secs before displaying the updated route. The longer the route, the longer it takes to return from the black screen. :(Is there a solution to this? Thanks,D.

>Is there a solution to this? No, the 744 FMC is actually exactly as slow in reality. PMDG even modelled this behavior. Actually i don't think it really depends on how long the route is, it's always about 4 seconds if you execute something.Best "solution": Only hit the EXEC button, if you really need to ;)

Hi Andreas,Thanks! I never realised that! Not a frequent 744 flyer..prefer the 737 :-)Thanks for the info and tip!D.

It is done on purpose and even the PMDG's FMC is faster compared the real FMC in regards to long flight routes..Best,Randy J. Smith
