Turning yoke deactivates autopilot even though command override disabled?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, in my PMDG options menu the two boxes in the AFDS tab for override of the autopilot are unticked (the yoke is one of them, can't remember the other but it is also unticked). Yet while I am flying under full autopilot, even a small brush off the yoke is enough to deactivate the A/P and, as such, obviously reek chaos. Especially on long-haul flights, guarding the yoke from any contact for such long periods can be very tough. Can anyone help as to why turning the yoke is still disabling the A/P, even though the option is unticked in PMDG options? Thanks a lot.

That's not what control override is for... Flight control input will always disable the AP, this is how it is in the real aircraft. You can try setting a larger deadzone in FS or in FSUIPC and that should make it less likely to disconnect. I have to hit my stick pretty hard to knock the AP off...

If you check those boxes, then small adjustments to the yoke will only temporarily override the autopilot, allowing it to take over again when you center your yoke. If you UNCHECK them as you seem to have done, then those adjustments will just disengage the autopilot. If you want to guard the yoke, use the "Enable/Disable Joystick" command (I believe it defaults to ctrl+K but I've set it to just K on my system).-Brian

I tried ticking the boxes, but AP still disconnects when I twist the yoke. I guess I will just have to stick with the Ctrl + K method, thanks for the tips.
