Strange Failure on Approach

During my decent into KJFK from EGLL, all of my CAPT and Primary EICAS displays froze and the FO displays went completely blank. I didn't think to check my Secondary EICAS. I was just above FL180 when this happened. I was using FSPassengers so I thought it was an inflight failure of some sort. I declared an emergancy in both FSP and Radar Contact and then everything suddenly went back to normal.When I landed, I got in trouble for declaring a false inflight emergancy which means FSP didn't cause the frozen displays.Does anyone know why this happened? I swear I didn't touch anything on the electrical panel, in fact, my overhead was closed.
