VOR radial capture and tracking in PMDG 747-400

Recommended Posts

Hi there!I'm very much enjoying flying the PMDG 747-400 within FS 2004. However, there seems to be a bug in the prgram as follows: Whenever I enter a VOR + course to track for that VOR as VOR-L in the FMC on the NAVRAD page, for instance in order to execute a VOR-DME approach, arming of the VOR-CRS does occur, but proper capture and tracking does NOT take place after pressing the LOC button on the MCP.Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug in the software?LNAV and ILS as well as HDG select all function properly. Please advise!!Thank you very much!David de VriesThe Netherlands.

Hi DavidI use the 747 lots for online flying but have to say that I do not do VOR- DME approaches as I tend to use the ILS capture. I am only about 60% sure of my answer here so others please feel free to correct me. I think I remember reading that the 747 ILS radio and the VOR radios are totally seperate devices and do not think it operates or is modelled to operate to capture and track a VOR through the LOC button, so my opinion is that your 747 is working correctly.hope this helpsJohn Calleja

Thanks very much, Jeff, it seems my problem is solved thanks to your help! In retrospect I could have figured this out from my experience with using the Level-D 767 FMC. Thanks again, you've made my day!David.
