Creating other aircraft to fly a formation show with?

Featured Replies

I was wondering whether it would be possible for someone, or maybe myself if it is easy, to create other aircraft, say 3 more F-16s doing a loop in formation, so you can fill in the slot position and do a formation loop along with them, just like the thunderbirds. I have a program for FS98, I believe, where you could tape your aircraft doing somthing in FS and import it into the program and make an AI plane do what you just did. I used it for formation flight all the time. IS there anything like this for FS2K2? Maybe that old program will still work.Oh well, any help?

I used to use that program too. Actually, the procedure requires more than one separate program since one needs to record the flight, another to convert the aircraft, and another to actually combine the flight with the additional aircraft and compile a scenery file [ *.bgl ]. I haven't tried it in the later versions of FS, but I have my doubts that it will work because the scenery engine is different. But it won't hurt to try.....what will you be out if it fails??One thing to keep in mind if it does work, the final file is not transferable to other airports.....it can only work in the airport that the original flight is recorded. In other words, the flight would have to be created at the target airport if it's to be used for that particular airport.Let us know if it does indeed work over in the Scenery Design Forum since that is probably more applicable than this one.

It's possible to create a flightplan for formation flying, although I personally have never tried looping the loop except in multiplayer with others.Kari Vartinen's "Midnight Hawks" or my repaint of the same in "Red Arrows" (REDSGYPO.ZIP) colours might get you started. These are formation fours. If two of you get together flying eight altogether, it can be a lot of fun. Kari's "Patrouille De France" has nine aircraft. Shortly, you'll be able to fly the full Diamond Nine for the Red Arrows (see screenshots, attached here). I'm just refining a new panel with exciting external views. You can always set them up on a given course and then fly in and out of the formation using your single. In time, I'm hoping to set up a formation team for the Reds online. There's one in Australia for their RAAF team, but I don't know who else gets up to this. None for the "Thunderbirds", as far as I know.http://www.swiremariners.com/9reds11.jpghttp://www.swiremariners.com/9reds12.jpgMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontP.S. Thanks for those links, W.Sieffert. Well guys, the program I was refering to was called "FS Action Scenery" and it installed fine, but it then asks me for my serial number and code that is on the box. Of course I havent had the box for years. So, no luck with that. About the other programs that you mention, how exactly do those work? What do I need to do to get them to do what I want?

The ones I referenced come with FMs, so RTFM!:-kewl
