QNH and alt Hold

Recommended Posts

Guest FrancoisH

Hello there,I was flying when updating my QNH (yes yes I know, I should have made it at TA but forgot it when climbing)... the plane was still at 38790 on profile mode and won't climb FL 390 as defined on the FCP. I had to left click for hold then right click agaiin to force the climb.Regards.

Yes. I suppose this is realistic behaviour although I can't say if it also applies to the plane you are referring to. On quite a few aircraft the autopilot has its own static pressure probe so changing the QNH setting on the altimeter might not do anything at all to the autopilot.

Francois,Congratulations you are the first to note this new autopilot feature. This the correct behaviour. The altitude tape will move on the PFD, the altitude horn may sound but the autopilot (while in HOLD) will be unaffected by pilot induced altimeter/QNH knob changes.Vangelis===================================== E M V Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com=====================================

Ok I suppose it have to do with the safety of a "HOLD" system...And then it's the proof it's missing on many plane ;) I didn't looked at this in any other add-on and I never flew any airliner myself ;)Regards.
