July 5, 200223 yr Fellow PICsters I am desperate. After many years I have by first MS flight sim crash situation. I tried installing an updated version of FS Nav. Then when I got into FS2k2, I noticed that I was not at my default gate at Newark. No prob, I'll just move. THEN a window pops up, to wit:"The Scenery Library Object Not Found, This May Cause Some Scenery, Such as Buildings, to not display" Then "ID xx.0000.xxxxx5, 0x0504,.0x57494c43". I hit "OK" and then it pops up again, with one digit changed in the "ID" then "OK" button again, then again and again again, OK OK OK,.But Not okay. Its seems to be not locating 100s of objects and I can't get back to the program.I had a scheduled KEWR-KMIA VATSIM flight tonight -Please help!!!Regards,WS (Bart)
July 5, 200223 yr Moderator Bart,You don't say if this error message appears if you move to other locations around the globe. I suspect that some BGLs may be missing from the folder that covers the Newark area.My guess is that these are held in the following folder: -FS2002SCENEDBWESTHEMUSNESCENERY.I have 117 BGL files in this folder - check how many you have and report back.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 5, 200223 yr Ray,Newark is my base airport, not only have I had the the default BGL files but also some 3rd party Newark-add ons scenery. But in any case the problem is more serious. As a result of the Window POP-UP I can not re-enter the program. This notice even pops up If I quickly exit from KEWR to the main FS screen. Then nothing else works as result of the message window. Therefore I do not have the option to move anywhere else!! I have to shut the program down via "Ctrl-Alt-Delete. Thanks and regards,Bart
July 6, 200223 yr Moderator Bart,Try disabling the addon scenery for Newark. If you can't do this within FS2002 locate the SCENERY.CFG file in the main FS2002 folder, and edit the Newark entry to disable it (change the ACTIVE= value). Make a copy of this file first to be on the safe side. Use NotePad to edit the file. Save the changes and load FS2002 and see if things have improved. Here's a sample before and after for one of my scenery areas...BEFORE[Area.122]Title=AthensActive=TRUELayer=128Local=sceneryLGAV2002Remote=Required=FALSEAFTER[Area.122]Title=AthensActive=FALSELayer=128Local=sceneryLGAV2002Remote=Required=FALSEHope that helps. July 6, 200223 yr Ray,I was able to quickly escape from Newark before the messege popped up. But then it did again shortly after I went into a saved Boston flight. In other words the whole program is disbled with this messege!! I would hate to re-install I can not think of how many programs/files I would need to install again. (I wonder if there is a general "must have" list of all files program - for the PIC on line flyer. Anyway, I appreciate your trying to help.Regards,Bart
July 6, 200223 yr Moderator Bart,I don't know if such a list exists but try this to see how damaged the sim is.1. Open Explorer and locate the FS2002 folder. Rename it to FS2002OLD.2. Insert FS2002 Disk 1 and run SETUP. When prompted for a location choose the original named folder. So, if it was C:FS2002 use that name. Remember that folder has been renamed to FS2002OLD so you won't get a conflict.3. Do a full install of FS2002.4. Load the new install of FS2002 and see if that resolves the problem. You can use the original icon on your desktop.5. If it does solve the problem exit FS2002 and load Explorer. Rename the newly created FS2002 folder to FS2002TEMP.6. Rename folder FS2002OLD back to its original name - FS2002 and launch FS2002 (again using the same icon). You are now running your original FS2002 installation. If the problem returns then the problem lies either with SCENERY.CFG or FS2002.CFG. I suspect the former. You could try copying the SCENERY.CFG from the working installation over the one that may be causing the problem (making backups first of course) and see if that resolves the situation. If it doesn't delete FS2002.CFG in your ORIGINAL non-working installation and see if that solves it.If none of that works let me know and we'll take it from there. I know this may seem like a lot of hassle but it's a lot less hassle than starting again from scratch which is a last resort option. Ray (Cheshire, England). July 6, 200223 yr Ray,I will give it a try and let you know how it goes. Perhaps I will e-mail you since this appears to be a 2-way conversation.Regards,Bart
July 6, 200223 yr Moderator Bart,Okay. I see you have received advice on this in FS General section. I hope all this advice doesn't leave you confused. :-hmmmCheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 6, 200223 yr Ray,I posted there first because it was more of a general question and not PIC. But I have found that it is normally worthless at least as far as my inquiries go. One gentleman did try to help though. Now the good news - I did everything you suggested and it worked on the final item, I changed over the FS2002.CFG file from FS2002TEMP and it worked. I had to reset my preferances and for some reason I lost the "Host" module used for VATSIM, but I am flying again!!!!Many thanks for all you help. Saved me from a ton or work.Best regards,Bart
July 7, 200223 yr Moderator Bart,I'm glad it worked for you. That procedure has helped me on more than one occasion.Enjoy your flying! :-waveCheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
