July 13, 200223 yr Hi everyone!I would like to see if anyone could help me with this problem. Everytime I fly in the FS2002, at any cruise altitude the external temperature is around -2
July 13, 200223 yr Moderator Don't get confused between TAT (Total Air Temp) and the actual external air temp called SAT (Static Air Temp) I believe.TAT takes the speed of the aircraft into account and will be considerably higher than the static temp. A classic case of this can be found when flying Concorde when the TAT must not exceed 127C! Yes, believe it or not this temperature can be approached even at FL520 because of the aircraft's very high speed. The actual outside temperature will be in the region of -50C.Having set a standard ground temp of 59F you should then set various temperature levels based on a reduction of 3.5F per 1000ft.Try setting a temp level of -46F for 30,000ft and you should get reasonably accurate results.Alternatively, buy FSMeteo and all the temps and wind speeds will be taken from actual observations and fed into FS2002 resulting in very accurate conditions.I'm afraid there's no way to set the TAT from the panel. July 17, 200223 yr Moderator MXA319,You've had two replies to your question about FS2002 weather but for whatever reason haven't replied to either. To me it seems completely illogical and somewhat rude to post a question and not reply to those who have tried to help you even if you just say "thanks but it didn't work".
