I noticed that I get very low frame rates and the simulator slows down way too much in the spotview graphically speaking I have no problems with the panel This only happens when I use any of the PIC 767 planes, my systems specs are:P4 1.6512 ddr ramnvidia geforce 4 ti 4200integrated sound cardwinxp What can I do to be able to fly any of the PIC 767 Planes with at least ok frame rates and to improve the graphics?Best Regards,Selby

Yes, external framerates are kinda choppy on the PIC 767. But I have yet to hear anyone complain about the internal framerate.Do a search on this forum for "POSKY Merge." It will combine the visual model of the Project OpenSky birds with the guts of the PIC 767. You'll see a much better frame rate from the outside, and a prettier looking plane as well.Jon (KSEA)

Yeah I am using the merge with the posky aircraft, so I guess i'll just forget about the pic aircraft then,Thanks for the reply,Best Regards,Selby

"so I guess i'll just forget about the pic aircraft then"Before you throw out the baby with the bathwater, confirm you are using a 1++GB processor and complaining about frame rates? Confirm you have got a decent video card?Try this....Turn down to low...your scenery detail, terrain texture detail, distance, etc. Also disable your AI traffic (frame PIG), close any firewall or anti-virus programs you are using. Use a utility like "End it All" to make sure nothing is running in the back ground. Try a lower screen resolution (like 1280x960 or whatever at 16 bit, dump the 32 bit). Make sure you are using a POSKY visual model merged to the PIC with Lee's merge appication. Now tell me you have bad frames in your 1.6 Gb PC and I will tell you to open your box and make sure you bought and recevied a 1.6Gb PC.I run PIC767 with Meteo, VATSIM (with multiplayer), Roger Wilco, a DSL connection, on a PIII 677mhz, 512mb RAM, 32mb Matrox card and it runs quite nicely/smoothly. If your PC can't handle it, then I would forget about the PC, not the PIC ;-) Also keep in mind that frame rates (the number) really does not tell you much about smoothness...I get 12-18 fps in the PIC and it is generally smooth unless in high density scenery areas....whereas the PSS744 I would get 20-50fps but the thing would stutter like a toothless banjo-playin' in-bread from Alabma.Hope this helps.Rob.

Well i'm positive that my processor is a p4 1.6 ghz and the video card is the new nvidia geforce 4 ti 4200 64mb ddr ram and 512 ram. I remember that when I first bought PIC I had fs2k at that time running in a p3 500 mhz 128 ram and a 16mb video card, windows 98 and it ran a little better, trust me there is nothing wrong with the p4 pc but I don't know if it is windows xp or fs2k2 but PIC surely doesn't run good when using i'm using its aircraft. I just use the panel with the Posky aircraft and the merge by LeeBest Regards,Selby

The original PIC aircraft model was designed for FS2000. As there were limitations as to the amount of detail, animation etc. you could put into an aircraft model, it was designed as scenery. And as you have probably noticed, hightly animated scenery objects (such as moving docking systems etc) are frame rate hogs. Now imagine to have an even more detailed object flying through the sky...But with Gmax in FS2002, you can now design highly detailed, frame-rate friendly aircraft, such as the POSKY 767, which include even more effects than were possible in FS2000, so using Lee's PIC/POSKY merge is definitely the best way - plus you have a huge choice of liveries.Cheers,Gosta.

Is there anyway to delete PIC planes from my directory and keep the panel, sound and fmc?Best Regards,Selby

I run FS2002 and 767PIC without any problem on a P2-400 Mhz and a Diamond Viper 550 videocard. It seems that there must something wrong with your configurantion.Klaas

This +can't+ be right. How many apps are you running in the background?I'm using a P3 1Ghz, 256 MB ram, and GeForce 2 on XP and I have +no+ problems with frame rates on the PIC 767. I recommend you do a search on the 'net for "EndItAll," a great utility that allows you to shut down non-essential apps and services and free your processor and memeory for FS.

Hi Selby,I'm not sure, but you could try. First, create a folder called 'backup' (or words to that effect) anywhere you like (as long as you remember where). Then open your folder 'FS2002/aircraft/767 PIC Wilco Publishing'. In there, you will find a few model folders, i.e 'model', 'model.ba', 'model.ua' etc. Move those to your backup folder. Then open up the main 'scenery' folder in FS, and move the '767 Pilot in Command' folder from there to your backup folder. Then choose a POSKY 767, and move the 'model' and 'texture' folders from that plane to your 'Aircraft/767PIC Wilco Publishing folder'. Run Flight Simulator (Don't worry about the 'scenery area not found error - that's because you haven't removed the PIC entry from the scenery.cfg), and select the 767 Pilot in Command/ Wilco Publishing livery. Your Posky plane should now show up. If it does, select it, and see, if it loads properly in FS. Don't worry about sinking wheels, or weird lights - that's because you are still using the original PIC aircraft.cfg with the Wilco contact points etc. This is just a test to see, if everything's working. If it does, then I guess you can just delete the original files in your backup folder, edit the aircraft.cfg using Lee's merge, and put all your favourite POSKY liveries in there instead (and remember to delete the '767PIC Wilco Publishing' area from your scenery.cfg using the scenery library). If it doesn't work, just put all the files back where they were, and all should be as it is now.Cheers,Gosta.

LOl there is no telling what it is that is making 767 PIC planes lower fs2002 performance, by the way I found a way to keep the panel, sound, and the fmc and deleted all the PIC planes and their scenery. It all seems to be working fine. All The Best,Selby
