I got got a problem climbing the Posky 763. At FL200 it startsto climb only 500 f/m. I also downloaded B763 PIC POSKY3 program. But still doesn't work. Any other ideas?Thanx !FlyerNL

Apart from downloading it, did you also install the PIC-POSKY merge? If your weights etc. are correct, it looks like you're using the POSKY airfile. Make sure you have the PIC .air file installed and that your aircraft.cfg is pointing to it.Cheers,Gosta.

I checked my Aircraft.cfg. This is the first in it:// Produced by running: cfgmerge.exe picposky.cfg Wilco.cfgSo that looks good !?And my .air file is named:767 Pilot in Command Wilco Publishing.airAlso look good eh !?So, does someone know what could be the problem then?FlyerNL

FlyerNL,Hi there. To help us all out..What are your ZFW, FUEL, and GROSS weights? Are you climbing MANUALLY? FLCH? V/S? VNAV?What CLIMB MODE have you selected on the THRUST PANEL?Does this happen all the time or was this the only time you experienced it.It certainly "does" sound like a configuration issue. However I do remember some people mentioning that the PIC airfile is a little underpowered (hard to believe since she is already a rocket ship) especially at CLB2.I find that at heavy weights (310,000 lbs+) the aircraft's climb rate starts to really come down somewhere between FL200 and FL250 - then she just puts out the proper thrust needed to keep the forward speed (which is really all I care about).Ian Elchitz CYWG.

Hi Ian,Here is some info:------------------------Flight: 1.50 hour------------------------ZFW: 245PLW: 278.843TOW: 312.282Fuel to load: 67.282 lbsCross wt: 310.282Climbing: FMC VNAV------------------------I used: 767 takeoff_EX97 Rob V2.31beta to calculate the fuel, weight etc...When finally estblished on cruise alt the engines are running 95%.I think it is a little bit much for the engines ? I also experienced it more than once.FlyerNL

You have loaded 67,000lbs of fuel for a 1.5 hour flight??? landing with over 30,000lbs on board?? Check your math. Heavier aircraft will burn more fuel at CRZ.GE engines run higher than PW and Rolls so I have heard...it's normal. This issue has been addressed on this forum, please do a search for more information.Rob.

I downloaded an other fuel planner. Now it was much lower !Now the slow climbing starts at +/- FL300 with 500 f/m. This is normal !?

It is normal if you are at MAX weight, but even 500 fpm is low.Are you using reduced CLB thrust settings? Are you using a PIC/POSKY merge? Have you confirmed your aircraft config and AIR file is NOT a POSKY file? What is your ZFW in the aircraft.cfg (empty weight line in the cfg file)?Just some things that may cause this to happen. At a gross weight of 265,000lbs, you should be able to climb from 0 to FL390 in about 15 minutes flat.Rob.

Max Climb pwr. Used PIC/POSKY merge. AIR file is 767 Pilot in Command Wilco Publishing.air. ZFW: empty_weight=245281.000000Maybe someone could mail me his/her aircraft [email protected] ThanxFlyerNL

...and what is your aircraft Gross Weight per the FMC when you are experiencing 500 fpm climbs (ZFW+Fuel=GW)? Are you using a high cost index (greater than 90)? Are you using VNAV or V/S in the climb? Do you have a SEL SPD entered on the VNAV CLB page if using VNAV? Any of those factors could affect your climb.Do a simple test. Gross weight of 265,000 (245,000zfw + 20,000lbs fuel), cost index 90, plot a route and set for FL390. After 1500ft engage VNAV and LNAV and make sure you don't have strong tail winds. Your climb to FL390 should not take more than about 15 minutes and you should maintain at least 1000 fpm in the upper part of the climb.Good luck.Rob.PS - You have NOT used any of those weight and balance applications...they have had some quirks as well and can cause problems.
