October 31, 200223 yr How would I get forecasts for a route I am flying? Temp, and winds are specifically I am looking for.Clear skies
October 31, 200223 yr while at the NOAA site ... don,t forget to check FLIGHT FOLDER also ... it has SIGMETs (silly talk for weather maps for the whole world ... frontal systems, CB, the whole nine yards) AND WINDS/TEMPS aloft with the whole world covered. You get the winds from like 500oft to 50000 at 3000 foot intervals (something like that)and the temps at each altitude.if you use FS_Meteo ... you will find usually that if the wind and sigmet maps say you are going to cross a jetstream at FL390 way high over Paris ... then you will usually see the effects as provided by FS_Meteo as you fly alongGreat stuff for free
October 31, 200223 yr I sometimes use www.fltplan.com. You can register for free. It allows you to select from commonly used routes or enter your own. Then, it gives you the winds for various altitudes, as well as the estimated time enroute. Using this, you can see that going a little higher/lower might be faster.I think the forecast winds used here are probably the same winds that FSMeteo would use.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
