External Hardware and the future WELP project

Featured Replies

Hi WELP -I really want to raise a few points for your new project, regarding external hardware. I hope it will be helpful to you as it sure be helpful to us users.1. First of all, if possible, program some way of (two way)communication between your panel and external hardware. This is extremely important for cockpit builders in particular, and for users of hardware such as aerosoft 747MCP or go flight equipment.2. Some extra controls for cockpit builders would also be great: for example, making it possible for a master caution led on a homemade panel to come on whenever the master caution is lit on your panel.3. In accordance with the two paragraphs above, connectivity with FSUIPC would always be welcome...I am not a professional cockpit builder (yet :-) ), so I am sure some of the pro's will have more to add or correct.BTW, can it be a 767? any 767? I mean you made us all 767-addicts, so take the responsibility for that! :-)(sorry, couldn't help myself)Thanks,Ilan

Ilan,<>I've just taken delivery of the Aerosoft 747MCP unit which works superbly with the 767PIC. Take a look here...www.mcp747.com/Took just 1 week to arrive from Oz. Highly recommended!I had heard that GoFlight (www.goflightinc.com/) were trying to make their kit work with the 767 but the avionics on the 767 will work just fine with their GF-166 or GF-45 units. I'm hoping to buy some of these at the Birmingham FS Show in 2 weeks.Time to dust off that cheque book ;-)Cheers,

Thanks for the reply Ray,I agree the 747MCP is great, I have it for quite some time now (was among the firsts to get it). It works great with 767PIC.Anyway, I want to make sure the new WELP product will support the MCP and similar hardware, and maybe it will even go a step forward.Ilan

Hi Ilan,Another satisfied customer - great! It's been so quiet in recent months I find the lack of information from WELP quite frustrating. I don't see the harm in naming the project being worked on and whether it is intended it will be compatible with hardware such as the MCP747. Information like this would whet people's appetites.Oh well, I suppose we'll know eventually.Cheers,

Hello Ilan,I totally agree with you. My 474 MCP is working perfect. But what we need, is better control of the PIC-keyboard interface. It only works with a real PC keyboard and doesn't work with keyboard encoders. So you have to program the encoder with key2mouse and so switches work only if they are on the screen at a fixed position. A little change of the interface software could solve this problem, but nobody did it until now. I hope, the next project will fix this bug.Certainly it would be great, if the lights/LED's would work with thepanel with FSUIPC. This is the greatest problem for my cockpit now, because only the FS2002 standart lights (gear, parkbrake ...) work and when using my switches I have always to look at the screen. Perhaps the Aerosoft expansion board will have an interface for this.Having these problems solved you could really build a full working realistic cockpit with 4 or 5 monitors, that could be used for training even real world pilots in the basic operation of the 767 ...or the new projects cockpit.Because my 767-cockpit will be nearly finished in some month, I hove the next project is a 767 or 757. BTW: I'm wondering, that only few people seem to have interest in building a home cockpit based on the 767 PIC. It's the best and most complete software for doing this!Regards,Tony

Hello Tony,My cockpit (still in progress) is planned to use 767PIC. I can't imagine not using its hydraulics, pneumatics, electric and all other functioning systems. However, 767PIC lack of support for external keyboard commands and its inability to send panel commands via FSUIPC (or any other interface) gets me a bit worried. I would greatly appreciate any comment from WELP regarding future intentions or any possible solution for 767PIC.Thanks guys,Ilan
