November 11, 200223 yr First off, thanks to Phil Geddes for his AWESOME VFR panel! And thanks to whoever (I think Phil again?) did the mixing/fixing of Daniel Carieri's killer PW sound! I've rekindled my love for the 767 becaues of these two killer tweaks! Anyway, now that I've paid my hommage (sorry Lee!) I was just curious as to whether or not PIC updated for 2k2 has TCAS, and if so, how does one turn it on? I read the updates on the website but didn't see any mention of TCAS. Am I just blind?-drew
November 12, 200223 yr Thanks, drew, for your compliments! I'm gonna play around with the "minipanel" idea that was posted in this forum. Apparently you can get landing lights/raindrops that way. I'll be showing my findings on the forum. My favorite part about the sounds is when you spool the engines up on the approach :-)Sincerely,Phil Geddes
November 12, 200223 yr ok, I'll bite - are you saying there is the possibility of having a TCAS display on the PIC767 EHSI (via AI bridge or otherwise)? I know the brain of Barlow has created many things, but a PIC767 TCAS? Say it is so? Rob.
November 12, 200223 yr Rob,Jason has hinted at this before, a pre release beta of the FS2002 patch apparantly had TCAS.Having never seen this I can't comment, but if Jason has this feature working with the FS2K2 patch then he is the luckiest (insert expletive here) out.Mark
November 12, 200223 yr Hi Mark,You got that right! It would be improper of me to hound Jason's home e-mail for a little favour...wouldn't it?I am sure there is a good reason why the PIC767-FS2k2 did not include a TCAS display. I know Wade, et al, would have included it if it worked properly and did not degrade the product in any way. That said, I will assume the PIC767 is better off without a TCAS, the PIC team has not let us down this far, no reason to think that now.Rob.
November 12, 200223 yr I only hope any future TCAS from the team will support AIBridge so it is useful for online traffic.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
November 12, 200223 yr TCAS in the PIC767 would be a total overload! Thanks for your sounds too, they're really super.
November 12, 200223 yr I believe the Beta version TCAS simulation worked only for AI Traffic, had no aural warnings or Resolution commands (on the EADI), had no control panel and did not use standard baro settings to compute aircraft relative altitudes. Under these circumstances, I'm sure the PIC Team felt that it was best to leave it out in the final version ;-)To give you some idea of how complex TCAS can get, the Aerowinx.com site has a mini tutorial on it.http://aerowinx.de/html/tcas.htmlCheers.Ian.
November 13, 200223 yr Well the Minipanel would be great if it works. As posted it does NOT work. I have asked him to send me his default panel Cfg to see whats missing from his postBest Wishes,Randy Smith Randy J Smith
