November 21, 200223 yr For the very few this concerns, Rainer and I are currently wrapping up a new version of the bitmap/CFG for multi monitors. This time we have managed to fix the night light! Some other things has been tweaked as well, for example bigger EICAS screens.I expect to have it up at FlightSim.no by tomorrow. Just want to check for bugs first.../Patric
November 21, 200223 yr Commercial Member The copyright is not Wilco's alone. As such they cannot, alone, give anyone permission to use the various parts of PIC. The copyrights for all of the bitmaps belong to Eric Ernst. The copyrights for the gauges belong entirely to the other PIC members, Wade Chafe, Laurent Crenier, and Pedro Sousa.I just wanted to make this clear since I've seen people make the comment that "WILCO has given permission" several times now.Wade
November 22, 200223 yr Wade,For starters, I just want to say that this bitmap is a very modest revision concerning a very modest amount of PIC users - the very few ones that are displaying PIC over two (or more) PCI based monitors for cockpit building purposes. The revised bitmap requires that You have a registered version of PIC to be able to run the revised panel at all. Now, whether this is a copyright issue concerning the Team and/or Wilco Publishing is a difficult issue for me to determine: the PIC manual - the printed one - is explicitly stating that all copyright belongs to Wilco Publishing, and for that reason I have contacted Wilco (and not the Team) and received full permission from Michael Renous for the upload.Given this, I can see very little threat concerning copyright issues, whether these may belong to Wilco Publishing or the Team. I am just providing a small amount of flightsimmers with a free upgrade to the PIC panel, giving FULL credit to Wilco and the PIC Team. If You consider this a violation of Your copyright, I would be more than happy if You sorted the copyright issues out with Wilco Publishing rather than with me.In the end I am not doing this to "make" anything. I am doing it for myself, and in that process I am willing to share my work with other simmers sharing the same kind of "obscure" interest. This sharing is, of course, something I simply could do without.../Patric
November 22, 200223 yr Commercial Member Please understand that I am not complaining about what you are doing, in fact I am glad that you are giving PIC users some added functionality. I just want to correct the copyright information. Please tell me where this copyright statement you refer to is located in the printed manual, I can't find it. The only one I see is on page 16 which states "The code used in Wilco Publishing products may under no circumstances be used for any other purposes without the permission of Wilco Publishing and it's developers". Note the "...and it's developers." part.Regards,Wade
November 22, 200223 yr Commercial Member I don't have any rights to the bitmaps so I can't give or refuse you permission to modify or upload them. I will say though that in the past Eric Ernst, who does own the copyrights to the bitmaps along with WILCO, has refused all requests from people asking to post modified bitmaps. This is offered purely for your information, as I said I simply wanted to clarify the copyright issue.Regards,Wade
November 22, 200223 yr This is getting too complicated and I am stepping off this sharing thing now. Sorry folks, but I simply do not have the time to review copyright regulations nor request permissions from all around the world./Patric
