A few questions!!!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,I am only new to PIC but find it terrific. However, I have a few questions. What is this POSKY thing that everyone is talking about, and, where do I find it, and is it worth it ??Is there some way I can turn on the WX radar or is there no weather radar in PIC. I think that it would be much more realistic ??Thirdly, can I push back using FS2002 and actually turn as in FS2000. I can pushback but I can't turn. Also even thought there is no external power or anything selected there is no pushback option in the PIC box at the top of the page????? I currently am using Shift P to pushback and not from the PIC menu which I want to access. And I think that I have some chimes missing. For example, when I select the Autobrakes, am I supposed to hear a chime ?? I have noticed that there are a few chimes that I think I should hear but can't ?Also when conducting an autoland with no jostick or anything, why will the aircraft not track the centreline on a AUTOLAND landing ?? The plane lands and then spears off the runway??? How can I stop this ??Sorry for the long questions, but I am new to this sim although I am not a newcomer to fligthsims. I would appreciate any responses. Thanks very much and happy landingsBARGE

1)BARGE ,the pic posky thing is combining project openskys 767's with the pic panel, do a search for it in the avsim library, as the poskey 767's will triple your framerate in spotview, and they look better. There is a batch file written by Lee in the avsim library that will do this for you.2)There is no weather radar in the pic panel.3)There is no pushback feature specifically for pic ,you have to use FS2002 pushback feature, as far as turning it during pushback do a search in the main forums for pushback ,its explained in detail.4)There is not supposed to be a chime when autobrake's is selected.5)I have never had an autoland deviate off the runway, but a couple of thoughts on this, it could be related to your joystick calibration ,or the sensitivities menu ,maybe increase the null events. Are you using rudder pedals?, Are they calibrated?.Are there crosswinds ,Also you may want to install fsuipc utility by Peter Dowson if you dont already have it, it can be found here at avsim, and provides great benfits to pic ,especially when combined with poskey aircraft.6)But the best advice I can give you is to read the manuals closely ,especially the FMC manual, they are well written and provide all the answers your looking for,as you can see this is not a fire it up and fly type simulation this very closely models the real aircraft and needs to be setup realistcally to fly correctly, good luck Barge, hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the info. I am already quite famailiar with the FMC and etc. I have flown a lot using Aerowinx's 747-400 Precsion Simulator so I guess I had many questions comparing the two of those. I realise that the 767-300 and 747-400 are different but they are similar in many ways.A bit of a pity about the Wx radar I think and a few things like the plane nott maintaining the RWY centreline. This is without my yoke or rudder pedals. Thanks BARGE

There is no problem with the 767 tracking center, its something that maybe your not aware about thats going on. Make sure to have all the latest updates installed and sids and stars too. There is a "pre-programed" landing flight set up in the PIC flights menu, I would suggest that you try this approach first and then see if she tracks centerline, I bet she will! Remember, ANYTHING you have going on "wind etc" will effect your approach, just like real life . If you look hard enough you will be really delighted in what you find out about PIC. Its almost like learning the real thing. Please search our forum, there are answers to almost any question you will have. Best Wishes, Randy J. Smith

"And I think that I have some chimes missing. For example, when I select the Autobrakes, am I supposed to hear a chime ??"When are you getting the chime, Barge? I do recall hearing a chime at odd times when using the Autobrakes in PS1, but I can't remember the circumstances. Incidentally, there are a few anomalies relating to brakes in PS1 (For example, you shouldn't be able to arm the Autobrakes (other than RTO) with the Parking Brake set... at least not on the ground. There are also brake pressure indications when there shouldn't be: I won't say any more than this... or Hardy might not let me back on the Aerowinx forum ;-) As far as I am aware, there are no airline options for generating chimes when things happen to the brakes. However, options come and go.... I just hate it when they don't tell the people who work on them that options have been deleted... It happened to me recently... The EICAS "Communications Message" chime on one (perhaps two) of our latest 767's was deactivated... and someone forgot to tell us about it (nothing in the Pilots' AOM or the Boeing Maintenance Manual!).Cheers.Ian.

Q: The plane lands and then spears off the runway??? How can I stop this ??A: The truth of it: you can't, usually - not without intervention on your part. The "rollout" mode in PIC is pretty much defunct - it works "sorta" but no where near as well as it should. Once you are down and actively braking, you should throw the switch on the A/P and F/D, or you'll start pulling left or right as you pass near the half-way point on the runway. This is, IMO, probably the largest functional oversight in the product (which is relatively minor when you consider the whole of what this sim accomplishes).Check your OBS as well. Sometimes discrepancies between the database and the scenery can cause 1, 2, or 3 degree variations between localizer headings and the actual runway heading (barring such localizers that are intentionally offset, mind you - in which case you should NOT be executing a CAT III Autoland!). Such discrepancies will affect PIC's ability to track the centerline accurately.J
