Yes in fact it did raise a "tad" in game.

No matter how good it sounds I'm staying away. Tried installing and got rid of some of my boot files it seems. Good thing I had another HDD that I could boot off of and copy the boot files to the other drive.

Are there any real benefits to outweigh the risk that it will screw up what you already have working well? That's what I always think when the latest/greatest/buggiest comes out. A "tad" higher framerate doesn't sound worth it, personally.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

I agree with Lee, "if it broke don't fix it". Just my experience is you can spend countless hours tweaking your CPU, Video Card, FS2K & PIC when in the end very little improvement is achieved. However, you can end up with a real mess for a system. Reinstalling is not pleasant.

All I can say is not to expect 'miracles'... From reading reviews I know that DX9 won't increasy FPS much, if it increases it at all. Furthermore DX9 has got new functions to support the upcoming graphic cards, but will be disabled on the current cards. No need to install it for now is my conclusion until you get your Geforce 5 card..However if you do install DX9 on a XP machine, I would recommend creating a system restore point. If something screws up(and I'm told it does, however thats not confirmed) you can get things back to normal. NO uninstall feature is included in DX9

Also FS is not a DX9 game, only DX7, so it can't really take advantage of DX9 cards or DX9.

Well that might be true but thats not to say that direct x 9 DOES nothing at all in FS2002. The other thing you must know is all NEW games comming out will NEED direct X 9 to work including FS2004. Peace

Best Wishes,Randy J. [email protected]" A little learning is a dangerous thing"http://www.geocities.com/extreme3d12002/crvm/mysig.jpgQ. Do I need DirectX 9.0? A. Typically, any title that uses DirectX will install the version of DirectX it requires in order to run. Therefore, you generally should not need to download DirectX 9.0 in order to get your programs to run. That said, it does not hurt to install DirectX 9.0. Some of the new functionality built into DirectX 9.0 may even enhance the quality and performance of your existing titles. Additionally, many game demos do not come with DirectX, so you may need to install DirectX 9.0 if you plan to play the latest demos. Q. Are there any known issues with regard to DirectX 9.0? A. Due to enhancements in the way DirectPlay functions, it is strongly recommended that all users who want to join or host multiplayer games upgrade to DirectX 9.0. A user with earlier versions of DirectX may have trouble joining or hosting games, or my see a significant performance reduction when playing with users who have 9.0 installed. Some video card manufacturers have updated drivers that are specifically designed to work with DirectX 9.0. It's possible that these drivers will benefit performance, quality, or stability of games running DirectX 9.0. Please make sure you check with your video card manufacturer to see if such drivers exist for your video card.

I can't see any rise on my FPS with DirectX 9.0.....and there's also no single problem related to it in my system, but i like it anyway~^^
