Stab trim: why 7.5 or more required?

Featured Replies

I'm a long time PIC767 user, since FS2000. I currently use FS2002 with the PIC767 (with the FS2002 patch) and the POSKY 762ER airfile and model (I fly the COA 762ER almost always). I've used this combo for a long long time and I am satisfied with how it flies. However, I've noticed that it wants a stab trim setting of 7.5 or greater for takeoff, even with just 50%-00%-50% fuel config and 15 degree flaps, otherwise it will stall and crash on takeoff. At 7.5 (stab trim), the alarm horn will always sound while rolling on takeoff but it will not stall.Am I supposed to use 7.5 (it is outside the normal green stab trim zone).Regards from KMIA

A lot of strange things will happen if you use the panel with an airfile it wasn't designed for. This is most likely one of them.

It is indeed. You cannot successfully use the POSKY airfile with PIC. You should be using Lee Hetherington's PIC/POSKY merge instead.J

Does anybody have a link to Lee's latest merge file? Thanks again,Kerke

Here is the link and some instructions just in case you need them. http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...rum=DCForumID33I must say to you also that there is no way the FMC will work correctly without merging with this file. You might have the pic panel but will not have the aircraft {systems etc} working correctly at all.Best Wishes,Randy J. [email protected]" A little learning is a dangerous thing"
