Hi!I know this is NOT a PIC-related question, but since the wisest people usually are found here, I'm gonna ask anyway.I installed the MS DirectX 9.0, and can no longer find ATC in VATSIM (SB), nor can the ATC see me.This is most probably a DX9 issue. Has anyone else encountered such problems, and if so, how have you rectified the problems ?I guess there is no way of going back to DX8 ?With much thanksTero

Are you sure you're having problems with DX9 and not 8.2? DX9 works perfectly here.

Hi,I had a lot of problems with DX9 in vatsim as well... while standing at my local airport (EHTW), vatsim indicated i was at EHDL, which is about 60nm off....For me the problem disapeared when i installed the latest version of FSUIPC. A friend had the same problem, but the above didn't solve it for him.. so it's a gamble if it'll work, but give it a try.Hope this helps to see you in the virtual skies again soon!,Robert

Guys,It really was the DX9 (not DX8.2) that was causing all the problems.I already had the latest FSUIPC 2.95 installed when I experienced the trouble.Problem is now solved after restoring the system to the point before the DX9 installation. With DX8 everything works just fine, and I was able to attend a senior controller's test tonight (as a pilot) thanks to WinXP's Restore-feature :).All VATSIM users: beware the DX9, it does not work! Thanks for the help!Tero

Charly,I did not have the SP1 installed... very interesting. Does SP1 include all the updates that have come along during the time WinXP has been out. I have installed all of those individual updates but not the SP1 itself. I'm currently downloading it, but I'm still a little sceptical about the DX9 + VATSIM -combo. Is it working flawlessly with you? No strange location errors as you being 30nm off in the radar compared to the FS position, or such ? I've seen those kinds of things being reported by people who ARE able to find ATC in SB window and use DX9 in VATSIM. I was unable to find any ATC and was not seen on the radar. After switching back to DX8 all is fine...brTero

I also had this problem on VATSIM, in combination with DX9 and WindowsXP SP. I wasn't vissible on the radar and when I verified my possition on Whazzup I was flying 20 miles east of the real track. For me the problem had to do with the internation settings of Windows. I changed the decimal sign from a , to a . This solved the problem for me.regards,Jasper :-wave
