Long Haul = stutter at landing

Featured Replies

HiAs a great fan of 767pic i'm running into trouble.Normally when flying 1-2 hours enroute no problem, very good frame rate on my system, 18-20 locked at 20.But above that flying time i'm getting stutter and fps as low as 2-3, always flying online. For additional info, running network, on main pc online FS2002 only, on slave squawkbox, fsmeteo.Any one with a clueMy main computer2.0 ghzAsus Gforce 4 128mb ram1024 md Rambus ram2X120GB raid harddisk. Thanks in advanceFlemming

Well your specs are just great so it's not that. Something might be stealing your resources so I suggest that you hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and check whats eating you resources up. Best Wishes,Randy J. [email protected]" A little learning is a dangerous thing"

I've had that problem before and I've got a reasonable fast system (Athlon 2000+, Gforce 3).After a long haul flight, the frame rates were dropping. Try one without FS Meteo (I know, I know.. - it's very useful). I use ActiveSky these days - doesn't seem to have a problem. Try a flight without FS Meteo, and see if it helps. If the problem isn't FS Meteo, before TOD, save the flight (make sure you have "Save panel" [or whatever it's called in the PIC menu] selected so it saves the FMC information). Then, shut FS down, maybe restart the system, load it all up again. PITA, I know, but might solve the problem.Alex

hi, can you get the save panel function to work? Can't get mine to save any panels, nothing shows up in the available flights column. Me using PIC 1.3 in FS2002 and winxp. Any help?

HiAfter some 7 hours of flight this was my result. If you look at picture #2 with blue "dot", thatis where my fps go as low as 2 and then back to normal.Disregard the photodrw.exe, it was not running while photo#2 was takenHelp appriciatedFlemminghttp://home.online.no/~fl-j/News/1.jpghttp://home.online.no/~fl-j/News/2.jpg

HiI tried doing that and now I can save my flights properly! Thanks!

I remember having this problem as well... The reason that I found (can't remember what/when that post was) was that it's somehow due to texture caching. I don't know why some setup's do it and others don't, but basically here's the deal: As you fly around, your system will keep caching textures as you go along... the longer you fly, the more textures it caches and the more resources those textures take up. What's the solution? Well, to start, I don't have this problem any more for some reason. The way I actually solved it before was by using the "autosave" program and selecting a save point right before I land. Basically, this causes flight-sim to reload all the textures and clear the cache. I'm not sure it this is what caused your problem. I'm simply stating what happened to me, and how I fixed it. Simply put: get autosave!Sincerely,Phil Geddes

94% CPU Usage for FS2k2 seems a bit high. When FS2k2 runs on my system (which is pretty similar to yours), it only takes about about 35-50% of my CPU resources, depending on the situation (scenery, aircraft, weather, etc.) I also run FSMETEO, but do not use WideFS.Ryan-Flightpro08 :-cool VATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Senior Controller (C-3)ASRC (Advanced Simulated Radar Client) Beta Tester-----------------------------My "Home Made" System Specs:Intel Pentium 4 2.2GHz ProcessorTurbo Gamer ATX Mid-Tower with 420W Power SupplyEPoX 4G4A Motherboard with Intel 845G ChipsetVisiontek XTASY GeForce4 128MB Ti4600 (Det 42.01 Drivers)512MB PC2100 DDR RAM40GB Matrox 7200RPM Hard DriveWindows XP Home Edition SP1*No CPU or GPU Overclocking*3dMark2001SE Score: 11298-----------------------------Click Here to Download my American Eagle POSKY CRJ-200!

Hi allThanks alot for feedbackCan others confirm load on cpu as low as 35-50%.Flemming

Hi FlemmingThis is a long shot but somewhere back in my mind I remember something about changing the cache size for sceneries. Increasing or decreasing I don't know. You get access to it through the scenery library settings in FS. I think this could relate to your problem. I think I had some problems on longer flights. Now my scenery cache is 1024Mb.Hope it helps
