February 12, 200323 yr those planes designed for the PIC panel.the iFDG planes are just giving me one hell of a time. Burn rates are WAY off, climb speeds are to
February 12, 200323 yr I too have noticed the fuel burn is way off, the amtn of reserve fuel according to the FMC rises at an astounding rate in flight... I started a 900 mile leg with a reported reserve of 4.3k lbs, as I expected to gain a few thousand enroute. During the climb, at full CLB thrust, up to FL350, the reserve increased by over 3000lbs, and that was in the first 20 minutes of the leg! When I got to cruise it kept going, but fortunately I had a 120kt+ headwind most of the way so the reserve didn't grow to a ridiculous amount. I can only imagine how much fuel would've been left had I had a lesser headwind. Right now I'm wondering if the reported reserve is so far off at the beginning of each flight because I'm flying a 757 with a 767 panel. But I also noticed with the PIC FDE that the reserve always grew dramatically in flight. So could this be a solvable problem?Ryan Hoffman
February 13, 200323 yr Right. . . And perhaps Im just doing something wrong. But until a full detail readme or help file comes out, with a streamlined policy on how to use the iFDG 75 w/ the PIC panel in a good way. Im sticking to the 762/3.
February 13, 200323 yr As I said numerous times before, the FMC performance data is for a 767, not a 757. So unless I hacked the FMC data (and I don't even know how to do that, nor do I want to, or think it's allowed even), it won't be correct. The 757 just uses less fuel than a 767, climbs differently, descends differently. But since there's nothing better out there than 767PIC for the 757 regarding EFIS, AP/FD systems, EICAS, FMC and simulation of some other systems on the overhead, it's the best we can do. You can still use LNAV and every single autopilot function. The only things that will be off are fuel predictions, climb predictions, opt altitude and v-speed calculations. Everything else in the FMC is perfectly usable.I find that a very respectable compromise, even though it isn't perfect. You're free to fly whatever you wish with your PIC panel, of course.Iz
February 13, 200323 yr I'm not so sure about the climb/descend predictions being too off...On my test flight (only one for now, no time) the aircraft indeed reached TOC mark at the predicted point!George DorkofikisAthens, Greece
February 13, 200323 yr Correct, at the predicted point from the data that is given to it from the FMS. Hence, the FMS is off, and hence your TOC is off.
February 13, 200323 yr Well it won't be *perfect* that's for sure and I can live with these limitations, at least we know what they are. I see it this way, Iz flys the real bird and he thinks it preforms well so of course I would take his opine regarding the FDE over any simflyers. Is it better than *any* other 757 made for flight simulator? Yes it is and in fact I have voiced my opinion towards all others who have tried a PIC/757 merge because they were not even close to this package. To bad we don't have code because we could make the FMC work correctly. That won't happen so I will live with what we have here. Best Wishes,Randy J. February 14, 200323 yr Im greatful for Iz contribution.Unfortunatly there is no STANDARD, (read: no single way of getting the PIC to work well with the 757FDE, there are hundreds of ways, and each way has its own downfalls.)It would be nice for someone to create a single document (like what Lee did with the merges, You do not see hundreds of merges out there for PIC and POSKY do you?)That is all I am saying

Certainly you have some great ideas and know EXACTLY how it should be done.I eagerly await your merge.Tom
