February 26, 200323 yr Hi all, this is the first time I post here because since yesterday I have been experiencing a strange problem when using the FMC to choose rwy and SID/STARS for various airports. What happens is that everything slows down to like 1 fps, but if I look around using the other views the fps are normal, when I go back to cockpit view it's all slowed down. It never happened before. I updated my AIRAC database to the recent 0302 form navdata.at and this has started to happen. It happened at LIRF, LIMC, LFPG and other airports. Just as soon as I select the dep/arr page in the FMC. Anyone experiencing this also, it's real strange! Thanks.Regards,Bjorn GhezziBAW316
February 27, 200323 yr I don't think the problem is caused by the AIRAC cycle 0302 update. From what I've seen reported in the past, I'm fairly positive you also downloaded and installed all the SIDs and STARs available at the NavData site. So now the FMC is overloaded while trying to process your selection and it is slowing down everything else in the cockpit view. The only solution is to reduce the number of procedures in your database.
February 27, 200323 yr I guess you are right. I checked the FMCWP folder in my fs2002 main folder, and when trying to open the SID/STAR folders it took a bit for them to be displayed. So I also thought that it could be the case since I did install the AIO zip file. Can I just delete the flise I don't need from the SID/STAR folders?Anyway, thanks for your quick reply.Regards,Bjorn
February 27, 200323 yr I personally would not recommend that anyone install that all-in-one file of procedures that's available at the Navdata site. I'm not sure that anyone tests the files to make sure they are correct. I have seen reports in the past that select one STAR resulted in 27 pages of information displayed in the FMC. Knowing that, I would never install those files; I only use the default procedures, those I create myself, and those created by a few individuals who I trust.I suppose you can delete the files you don't need but it sounds like a tedious task. It might make more sense to restore the default files; hopefully you backed up your files before installing the AIO file.
February 27, 200323 yr BjornI have made a small utility called SS_Copy that takes care of copying the SID/STARs that you need for one flight from a repository. It can be found here: http://library.avsim.com/search.php?Search...=Root&Go=SearchI also think you can put all SID/STARs on a CD as a repository. I have heard others doing that. Otherwise all those files will take up a huge amount of space on your HDD.Regards Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
February 27, 200323 yr I just program the sid/star in manually, saves all the problems, and that way you are breifing yourself on the procedure also. Killing two birds with one stone so to speak.Ian
February 27, 200323 yr Thanks a lot guys!!Yes, I confirm the problem was that. Infact at airports with fewer sid/star choices it didn't happen. anyway, I downloade the program SS_copy, moved all sid/stars to a repository folder on my desktop and I will use that to upload only the ones I need for a particular flight. BTW, great utility! Thanks again, and happy flying.Regards,Bjorn
