March 13, 200323 yr Just wondering how I can change it so that the Autothrottle actually reduces to idle for the descent. I don't want to have a high N1 seting for the descent. It announciates Idle on the EADI but the throttles don't fully retard.Any solutions???Also I remember that the fuel burn I think from memory was too high or too low during cruise??? Does anyone know how I can improve the accuracy of the sim so that the fuel plan is more accurate?? I want to just change these two things and I will be a very hamppy camper. Thanks again. I hope it isn't too much to ask.
March 13, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi "barge"Re 1 - This is hardcoded into the FMS. The A/T will reduce thrust to a specific N1 setting and then go into THR HLD. You can then press F1 which will set idle for the rest of the descent (at least I think so :-) but maybe if you deviate from the VNAV profile too much, the pitch mode might go into VNAV SPD and the A/T will set a higher N1 again...dunno)You can however disenange the A/T completely or use FLCH or even V/S.Re 2 - Must be possible, but if you change one thing, you'll change a million other things. I wouldn't touch it but if you like experimenting go right ahead just save your oginal airfile! Regarding the how - use the flight dynamics editor that came with FS2002.Hope this helped,RegardsMark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
March 15, 200323 yr Barge,My advice would be to leave things as they are.The fuel burns are very close to the real thing so I wouldn't go screwing around with them, you are liable to muck something else up.Also, all FS2K aircraft descend way too fast with the power at idle (must be an FS2k atmosphere modelling thing). In the real airplane you would see descent rates in the 2000 fpm range at idle (which is typical for all jet transport aircraft) but in FS2K you typically get values more like 4000 fpm. Hence, the higher power setting to maintain a realistic descent rate and path which IMO comes far closer to replicating the real thing (if you just ignore the artificially high N1 setting).Kevin in CYOW
March 15, 200323 yr how "high" are your guys N1??? I'm getting 40-60, wind depending. I thought that was a normal flight idle???
March 15, 200323 yr Disconnect the AT and pull the throttles back to see for yourself. I get around 31-32.
March 15, 200323 yr You can always use speed intervention while in vnav, click on the speed dial and dial in say 250kts ,your n1 will go to idle until 250k is indicated.
