NEED HELP INSTALLING TO FS2K2

Featured Replies

Here's my on-going problem. For quite sometime now I have been un-able to install 767PIC to 2002. Whenever I attempt it I go to start flightsim 2k2 and the splash screen appears briefly then goes dark with the hour glass showing and then freezes. Flight sim will not continue to load. My screen just stays dark. I end up having to completely un0install flight-sim and re-install which is a pain because I have quite a few modifications that I must also re-install and it's quite time consuming. I had the same sort of problem with Airport 2000 vol. 3 which was correctable with it's install cleaner utility. I downloaded the 767PIC install cleaner thinking maybe that would correct my problem but no luck. Here's exactly what I do.1. Run 767 installation cleaner.2. I install 767 PIC to FS 2002 selecting only the liveries I care to fly. (the U.S. ones).3. I do not patch for FS2000 and I do not install DX 8 as I have a later DX version.4. I exit the CD set-up and return to windows and run the 767PIC FS2002 patch. Of course I make sure my norton anti-virus is shut off when I do this.5. I start FS 2002 and that's when it all comes to a crash. My system is a Dell 4100 733mhz, 512meg. ram with a geForce 4 64 DDR. Soundblaster 16 PCI running windows 98 second edition. If anyone has any experience with this specific type of problem and knows a way around it I would surely appreciate the help. Just today I had to do a complete re-install for like the fourth time since last november and I am almost at the point where I am afraid to try again and ready to resign myself to the fact that I will never be able to run 767 on FS 2002. Thanks a lot in advance.

Does this only happen with PIC installed? When you run the patch cleaner, do you first uninstall PIC from the windows ADD/REMOVE option?First, remove PIC from ADD/REMOVE option in your control panel, then go into the FS2002 aircraft folder and manually remove the Wilco Publishing folder that the ADD/REMOVE did not remove. Now run the patch cleaner: ftp://ftp.wilcopub.com/W767Cleaner.exeInstall PIC making sure you choose the correct PATH to FS2002 and do not use any patch off of the CD, which you seem to know already. The correct FS2002 patch to use is this one ONLY. ftp://ftp.wilcopub.com/767PilotinCommandPatchFS2002.exeCross your fingers. Best Wishes, Randy J. So, if it's helpful for me to un-install PIC manually and remove the Wilco folder manually before running the cleaner then the fact that I already have airport 2000 vol.3 installed could be a problem. Could it be that any pre-existing Wilco FS 2000 software is preventing a clean installation of 767PIC?
