April 10, 200323 yr Hi there - I did a search, but couldn't find an answer (despite 165 found!), although I seem to remember reading something about this, not too long ago:Is it possible to update the runway info in the FMC, eg. include new runways at existing airports, such as EHAM and CYYZ?I think someone was talking about doing that for EBAW, if I remember correctly....Thanks,Mikecyul
April 10, 200323 yr Hi Mike,here's the thread you were looking for:http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...rumID33&archiveThere's one more thing to add, though - the coordinates have to be in decimal format, i.e a hundred minutes per degree etc., so you'll have to get your calculator out :) . Thanks to Lee Hetherington for noticing that.Cheers,Gosta. http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
April 10, 200323 yr Thanks, Gosta, that's what I was looking for. :-)Would it be possible to get a mini tutorial on just what it means to convert the coordinates into decimal format? Perhaps just a couple of specific examples?Mike
April 10, 200323 yr Hi Mike,sure, but please bear in mind that it's nearly bedtime, so you'd better double-check :).EDIT: Don't worry, Richard Stefan has explained the correct procedure below...Hope this helps (and is correct), EDIT: It wasn't :)Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
April 10, 200323 yr Hi,Format: HH MM SS -> DECIMAL DEGREES((HH * 3600) + (MM * 60) + SS) / 3600 = decimal format ;-)Example:N23:04:19(23*3600)+(4*60)+19 = 83059 / 3600 = 23,0719444
April 10, 200323 yr Hi Stefan,I knew I should have gone to bed - completely forgot the elimination of the second division point.... :).Thanks for clearing that up.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
April 10, 200323 yr Many thanks! :-) Works perfectly.In case anyone is interested, here's what Air Canada's Standard Operating Procedures, Pre-Flight (1.04.02 P33) says about this:"Origin or Destination Not in FMC NAV Data Base:An entry on the ORIGIN line and activation of the ROUTE page are required for the FMC to provide climb and cruise predictions.If ORIGIN not in the FMC NAV data base:Load the LAT and LONG of the origin on the set IRS position line.On the route page, load any airport close by that is in the NAV data base as ORIGIN.Load direct the first waypoint on AFPAC and the rest of the route and activate.FMC will now predict time and fuel for EFP and destination and should agree with AFPAC. If DESTINATION not in NAV data base, load LAT and LONG of the intended destination as the last waypoint in the route. FMC will predict time and fuel to destnation as long as an ORIGIN has been entered."Thanks again, Gosta and Stefan.Mike
