Hello all,I am new to the whole simming community, purchasing MFS 2002 to enhance my instrument skills as an alternative to the more expensive proficiency sims such as Elite or (crapy) ASA OnTop. I am currently trying to decide on a few add-ons. First I would like to get the CH 3 Lever USB Yoke or the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Joystick. Maybe you guys can help me decide. Gee, I wish the made a force feedback yoke. That would solve my dilemma:-)Also, I spent a semester of college in St. Louis with TWA a few years back where I attended and completed a B767 Ground and Simulator CRM & SIC course with lined pilots as part of a college internship. I would like to know if this B767 PIC product could really help me stay proficient in the aircraft as far as systems and navigation. I realize that this product has been out since the days of MFS 2000 and was wondering if it still is worth purchasing this late in the game? I enjoy a good realistic sound and flight model package as well.I am running a 1.0GHz P3 with a 17" monitor, 1024MB RAM, 32MB Graphics Card. Running the sim in 1024x768 32 resolution with all the scenery turned down to get the best frame rates. Lots of buildings and trees don't do any good when it's 200FT AGL solid overcast:-)Thanks for any suggestions.Wayland KramerComm, ASEL & AMEL; InstCFI, CFII, MEI

If you wanted objective advice, you came to the wrong place!Of course PIC is worth buying! It is hands down the best, most realistic add-on for FS since, well ever. I run PIC on a 800 mHz PIII with 368 mB of RAM and my framerates with PIC hover around 15 FPS most of the time, so its definetely doable on a 1 gHz machine. In addition to PIC being the best addon out there, this community is possibly the best support group around for FS. There are a gaggle of real world drivers (757, 767 and misc.), a bunch of guys who work for various airlines in various other roles, and the occasional screwball who just works his butt off for no other reason than he enjoys it.All that said, there is a (short) laundry list of things that you'll need to dramatically increase the PIC experience (help me out if I forget anything here guys)Update to v1.2[ftp://ftp.wilcopub.com/767PilotinCommandPatchFS2002.exe]Updated Navdata[http://www.navdata.at]Landing view by Phil Geddes (I hope this is the latest version!)[http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2002pan&DLID=22065]Project Opensky visual models (the ones that Wilco supplied really just were not that good, in fact they were pretty horrible)[http://www.projectopensky.com]Lee Hetherington's merge of the POSKY visual with the PIC everything else[http://www.sls.lcs.mit.edu/ilh/767pic](here are a set of directions for using the PIC/POSKY merge)[http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID33/2632.html]Use those directions wisely, lest you incur the wrath of the forum gods...and the last, greatest and latest,Lee Hetherington's TCAS v1[http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DLID=27532]That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Could someone else come and rescue any lost addons that I forgot? Later,Neil

PIC 767 is used by many 757-767 drivers for pratice. I have one friend who flys in the UK and pratices for places he has not been to but will fly. There simply is not another that comes close to systems replication for this aircraft. But be warned, you must learn to use it very much like the real deal which means learning the FMC/MCP correctly. You might have a little trouble running it good with your specs unless you turn down most of your FS sliders. You can fix this by upgrading your CPU. That yoke will do but if you want a good realistic one try PFC yokes, they are FAA approved and have that heavy feel. Look here: http://www.flypfc.com/entertainment%20products/yokes.html I too have a landing panel that is used by many long timers here and you can download it here: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=27197 There are a couple of other aircraft that are very good if you are wanting to fly GAs. FSD's commander 115 RealAir's Sai Marchetti (simply the best GA!) RealAir's 172sp (free replacement for the default 172) very realistic flight model} Flight 1's Meridian (one one the most advanced GAs with the newer type of gauges that are very clear and smooth but you won't be able to run it well with your specs}Best Wishes, Randy J. You may be interested in downloading one of these IFDG version 2 757-200. You can find it in the AVSIM library, while the download area of IFDG seems to be shut down for another while appearingly due to the upload of several other liveries. So, you will have very nice 757 to be flown with the PIC 767 panel.
